Red Spider is another one I have now. which is good to get an idea of what the early style front turn signals and chrome bumpers look like. and what this '78 could easily get to. You could choose as little as having me put it back together with the minimum amount of additional cash. just to get it road-legal (possibly as little as $500-1000 more). Or. you could choose to have h/c pistons. hot cams. lightened flywheel. lightweight pulleys. adjustable sprockets. and more. as well as your choice of paint in acrylic enamel. in a high buff deep polish (classic car method) paint job. The sky and your imagination (or pocketbook) is the limit. ***Please read full description for all info. price. options. etc. ***I'm a vintage car mechanic. and I've had a few pre-80's Fiats. This one I bought in 2009 and only drove it a short time before I put it in my shop and started a big overhaul restoration and performance upgrade on it. It ran excellent at the time. but I'd decided to put higher compression pistons in. hot intake and exhaust cams. and dual weber carbs with original OEM dual carb intake. I was also going to rework the body. fixing the few imperfections it has. then while tackling the rear of the car I wanted to change the tail lights over to the Ferrari 275 GTB/Fiat 1300 Abarth Coupe style (round). I also had plans to redo the wood dash and center console in nice burl wood. Well. I could fill the page with an explanation of what I want to do. but here is what I have done: -convertible mechanism. interior panels. seats. console. dash removed (Any and all removed parts have been carefully bagged. tagged. boxed and cataloged. Some parts were removed to better facilitate the body work and paint job. others were removed to be restored back to factory standards or better. )-drivers door glass. lock and handle removed -hood removed-lower rocker panels removed. both sides (excellent condition. just removed in prep of full paint job)-most chrome and stainless trim has already been removed and polished-carpet removed-headlights/buckets removed-side marker lights removed (in prep of filling in rectangular holes and going back to the early style smaller round markers)-ugly late style tube bumpers removed (in prep of going to early style chrome bumpers)-driveline rebuilt. new: uv joints. carrier bearing. rubber drive shaft support. flex joint-all four DISC breaks have been rebuilt. full flushed. including rebuilt each caliper-four new shocks-rear axle bearings and seals-front wheel bearings and seals-steering components all replaced or tuned (new: tie rods. center link. Tuned: idler box. steering box)-Engine: -I removed the distributor because I wanted to upgrade to electronic spark -carb is off and has been rebuilt (Weber 32 ADFA). but I later decided to go over to dual carbs. which hasn't been installed). intake for the Weber 32 ADFA is still installed. -most of the later EPA mandated smog junk has been removed and properly blocked off. Looks MUCH better now) -timing belt has been replaced (0 miles on new one). upgraded to a wider one. including new idler bearing/pulley-replaced clutch cable-new bushings on all four control arms. which were bead blasted and repainted-new ball joints-current front anti-sway bar has new bushings. and repainted (bigger bar available)-repainted and undercoated all four wheel wells. including careful attention to the shock towers in front wells-new e-brake cableParts I have available (negotiable upon purchase of car)-HID headlight system with HELLA bulbs-premium Stay-Fast fabric top-convertible top boot-dual Weber IDF 40 carburetor intake-new carpet-roll bar-exhaust header-FIAMM air horns (with FIAMM compressor) from another Fiat (this 78 has electric FIAMM horns)-electronic Magnetti Marelli distributor-Selection of 3 different types of wheels. -front and rear 1" anti-roll bars-OEM. early style front turn signals that go on the body. above the bumper (see red Fiat photo). very hard to find!-I have a nice set of rear early-style chrome bumpers. but need to source the front-aluminum radiator-spare 5 speed transmission-spare rear differential-new windshield visors-door seals. window seals. guide channels. trunk rubber. etc-FIAT shop manuals. as well as Chiltons. Haynes. Weber booksI have many other small parts available. I've been working on Fiats specifically. for 12 years. As far as the overall condition. the worst point is on the hood there was some prior damage. about the size of a CD. dented in about 3/16". which I started to repair. but haven't finished. Not very major at all. Let me stress that $3000 is a killer price for this car. even in the disassembled state that it is in right now (that's less than I even paid for it. and nowhere near close to include all of the work I've done on it so far). These are a blast to own and drive! Very addicting. Amazing gas mileage! Great handling! And contrary to the old "Fix It Again Tony" saying. they are actually quite dependable when you have one that has been taken care of. I have taken the red '71 in the other photos all over the Wasatch front. on the Mirror Lake highway. up to Logan and Bear Lake. up to Park City numerous times. even in the winter. and also as far as out to Wendover. I get stopped and asked about it all the time. and for such a small investment. it feels like driving a car worth 5x as much! The awesome thing is that Fiat has even just announced that they are going to re-release the 124 model in the next couple of years. so the value on these will just continue to increase. There is also a great Fiat club here in Utah called the Utah Spider Association with a cool group of people that get together and go on drives and such. Plus owning a Fiat gets you automatic membership to a close group of people who will help you if you ever need it. including myself. to do any fixes. or improvements on your Spider. Car is located in West Point. near Hill Air Force Base. Clearfield and Layton. and I can arrange a time to meet with you and discuss price and options if you're serious about it. Ciao. /p>JB Items may be picked up in person in Clearfield. Utah 84015.
