Description of 1970 Fiat Other 850 Sport

1970 Fiat Spider. 900cc. rear engine. water cooled. 4 speed transmission. under 60. 00 miles. I put a head gasket in this car a while back and the cylinder walls didn't show any sign at all of a ridge at the top of the cylinders so I think the mileage is original miles. The valve seats looked real good too and weren't burnt or pitted. however. they were loose in the guides. The car starts right up and has a new gear reduction starter. The battery is ten years old -- I bought it when I first got the Fiat -- and will start the car but it really does need replaced. The car has plenty of power and runs right up to 85 or more. Clutch and transmission have no problems. The brakes stop the car like they should and the shoes and pads are good. The brake lines look a little rusty in some places and could use an inspection and maybe replacement. There are some minor oil leaks but this car doesn't leave a puddle on the garage floor. The transmission and axles boots don't leak. The water pump is leaking but not too bad and the car can still be driven some. The water pump could fail completely at any time. They cost about $200 to replace. The body is pretty solid but does have some paint bubbling and rust issues. I tried to show the rust spots in the pictures. Passenger side door had the hinges rebuilt. The drivers side sags just a little and needs new bushings. The heater fan needs a new bearing. The heater valve doesn't leak water in the off position but does leak when you turn the heat on. The turn signal switch needs replaced but I have a toggle switch wired in as a fix until a NOS unit can be had. Interior isn't too bad but the driver's side seat is ripped up pretty good. All the glass is intact. The convertible top is in pretty good shape but there is small 1" tear. I drove this car from Pennsylvania to Texas when I moved here 5 years ago. It is fairly reliable if you take care of it. A few years back my then 18 year old granddaughter used this car as daily driver for about a year going to school and work every day. I've had a lot of fun with this car and it gets attention wherever we go in it. It would be a good candidate for a complete restoration. But if you just want to have some fun in a little car that's cheap to own and drive (40 mpg) this one's got a lot of life left in it. Replace the water pump and the battery and do a safety inspection on the brake lines and this car is ready for the road again. I have an extra engine block and cylinder head. radiator. new clutch cable. nbsp; some gaskets. and lots of other parts and two repair manuals. I want an immediate $100 deposit from the successful bidder and payment in full within 7 days or before the car is removed. whichever comes first. If you show up at my house and don't think the car is worth what you bid for it I'll refund your $100 deposit through PayPal. but only if you actually come here and inspect the car. I can store the car for thirty days from the date payment in full is made and after that the car will be parked on the street. This is a no delivery. pick-up only auction. Other than getting the car out of the garage and onto the street I will not assist in loading the car for you or your hauler. There is no warranty of any kind with this car -- it's 45 years old!
