Description of 1950 Ford F-6

Big trucks like this 1950 Ford F6 remind us today that life was very, ery different even as recently as the 1950s. Most of the heavy lifting around town was handled by trucks very much like this one, esigned to carry immense loads at modest speeds over questionable terrain. And at that, he Ford F-series excelled. The fact that they were also handsome doesn't hurt, nd today they remain perhaps the fastest-growing segment of the antique vehicle hobby.1950 was the final year before a big makeover in 1951, ffering the old-school grille with narrow-set headlights that looks great. The paint is a twist on of the old-fashioned look, lack with bright red fenders, nd it nevertheless looks right on the big rig's classic shape. Fit and finish is appropriate to an original heavy-duty truck, ith doors that open and close easily, hood that latches tight, nd a very attention-grabbing overall look that makes people smile. There are plenty of signs of use and it isn't perfect, ut you wouldn't want a truck that hasn't proven itself, ight? The period dump bed is a neat feature and makes this truck practical today and remains fully functional. Put it to work or imagine the possibilities for hauling around your collector car on its back. Cool, ight? The interior is nattily trimmed with a black vinyl bench seat and painted metal surfaces everywhere else. Remember, t was designed to work hard, ot be pretty, ut Ford stylists knew that good looks sold trucks just as well as they sold cars, o the instruments are in a stylish pod and keep an eye on all the vitals. The dash, oors, nd other areas have all been painted to match the body, ith proper cardboard headliner that gives it a very finished look. The contrast between the red control levers and black paint is pleasing and rakish, howing a bit of style that's right at home in the handsome truck. Manual steering and brakes are easy enough to manage, ut this is still a big vehicle so it'll take some getting used to the commanding driving position. And brush-up on your shifting, ince the 4-speed manual gearbox is heavy-duty and requires a firm hand on the shift lever.Remarkably, ord's inline-six was offered alongside the flathead V8, nd produces nearly as much power and more torque, hich is probably why it was used in the giant F6. It's quite clean under the hood for such a workhorse and starts quickly with 12 volts spinning the starter. It wears proper Ford Red paint and a downdraft carburetor, nd has been upgraded with a modern alternator for the electrical system. All the hydraulics for the dump bed are intact and functioning and a newer exhaust system has been fitted not too long ago. Shifting takes some practice, ut you certainly won't hurt the big guy while you learn, nd the brakes are remarkably effective given the truck's mass. Performance is leisurely, s you'd expect, ut there's simply nothing you can't move with something like this.. The original wheels have been painted to match the fenders, nd wear relatively new 8.25-20 heavy-duty truck tires. For business promotion, here are few better mediums, nd if moving big stuff around is part of your daily routine, ou'll probably enjoy it twice as much from behind the wheel of this F6. An awful lot of truck for not a lot of money. Call today!
