Sold new on June 9th 1962 to Carl and Lorene Carter of LaSalle Michigan. The selling dealer was Whitman Ford Co. of Temperance Michigan. Believed to have remained in the Carter family for over 45 years! This is an outstanding example of a rare "M" code Bird and it's very original. The car drives & performs excellent. Odometer indicates 70,000 miles which is believed to be original and stated as such by the previous owner who purchased directly from the Carter family (title states odometer "exempt" because of age).

In addition to the tri-power setup, he "M" code engine utilized Ford 406 ci heads (which this car has) and a specially tweaked transmission. The aluminum oval air cleaner features the Thunderbird emblem inset near the front of the lid. The factory rated this motor at 330 horsepower which is 30 more than the standard "Z" code 390 engine. Documenting a genuine "M" code is easy as the fifth digit in the vin signifies the engine code, n this case "M". This particular car is further documented with its original build sheet.
