Description of 19690000 Ford F-250

Up for sale is a 1969 Ford F-250, x4 Crew Cab Hi-Boy. I purchased the Vehicle on April 8, 998 with 106,900 miles showing on the odometer. Currently, here is 180,612 miles on the Truck. The Engine was totally gone through by, om Lucas at FE Specialties, t 143,738 miles. There is 36,874 mile on the professionally built engine........ Link:

Ford built 641 of these 4x4's in 69 and it was the first year that Ford came out with the Crew Cabs in production on a 4x4. They built crew cabs in earlier years, ust not in a 4x4 model. There were a few built in a 4x4 but not at a FORD plant. They were outsourced by an independent customizer. This Truck was built in the Ontario Plant on 2/28/1969 and first sold out of a dealership in San Jose, alifornia. The previous owner told me that this truck was a private sales purchase and not purchased by a Utility agency. It is believed that I am the third owner.

When I acquired the Truck, t had the following equipment: Stock 360 cid with a 2 barrel carb, ana 60, losed Knuckle drum brake front axle, ower Steering, ower Brakes, nd the aftermarket A/C. It came with an NP 435 Transmission and a Dana 24 divorced Transfer case. Over the years I have made some improvements and modifications. They are as follows and not in sequential order of build:

Engine was sourced from a 1967 Ford T-Bird Coupe and is bored .030 over with Keith Black Hypereutectic Pistons, B378. Heads were ported, nd the oil galleys opened up for better flow. A mild Comp Cam (268h) was installed with Crower lifters. Edlebrock intake #2105, nd a Holley 750 Double Pumper carb with electric choke is used now instead of the Barry Brant. Distributer is a Mallory with Pertronix. The top end was gram weighted and blue printed. Hedman headers were wrapped and a magna flow muffler was used. All kept cool with a 4 core Radiator. Larger capacity tanks on top of core.

The Bad:

The AM/FM, D/DVD Radio quit working. (Power Acoustik PTID-5300). It was an inexpensive unit and I will leave it up to buyer to decide what they want. I am not going to replace it.

However, he other components are quality and stays with Truck. Driver's side seat has a 1 inch wear in the material around the bead on the side of the seat. See picture.

Slight oil leak at the rear of the oil pan gasket.

Paint is not perfect. It was a $5,800. dollar paint job. It is not Barrett Jackson. This is a driver, ot a show truck.

The front leaf spring bushings are warn so there is movement in the front leaf springs. They make noise within the perch. It doesn't affect the Vehicle operation. They just make noise when turning at slower speeds.

A/C fittings are old. They are original style Ford hose clamp fittings. They LEAK. The A/C, hen charged blows cold, ut will slowly drain out because of the hoses.

Both wing windows are slightly pitted. Pictures will show

In conclusion, his is a very rare example from the late 60's. Yes there are some flaws, f it was perfect, hen the listing would reflect it. The flaws, n y opinion are minor. As I said in the intro, here were 641 units made in 69, Per Ford Pickup REDBOOK), here are NOT many of these around, or will you find a rust free western truck in this condition. Go ahead try to find one. Bear in mind this is a 60's era Vehicle, t is NOT new, or will it drive and run like a brand new Vehicle. If you want new, hen I suggest you buy one. It is a carbureted, ron block, ossil fuel burning, nd non-computerized motor. It requires a warm up before you just take off. It is NOT fuel injected. If you like a vintage 4x4 that is reliable and runs like a vintage truck then this could be for you. It steers very easy, hifts fine, nd stops great. If you must know how many MPG this Truck gets, hen you will not want it. I get an honest 8 MPG. If you decide to tow, xpect to get around 4. I don't tow anymore. I have a Cummins for that duty.

On Jul-13-15 at 19:12:40 PDT, eller added the following information:

It should be noted that the overdrive can be used in each gear. Effectively giving you 8 forward speeds. I use the Ranger overdrive box as an overdrive only. You could use it after 2nd, r 3rd, f you needed that spot between gears. If you were towing for example. It's a long throw from 3rd to 4th if you were pulling a grade with a load.
