Description of 1949 Ford Other

1949 Ford F5 Factory Built Crew Cab Cabover Truck

Here's your chance to own a truly unique, ery rare, 949 Ford truck. This factory built 3-door"crewcab" 4x4 COE truck is one of very few ever made. Very little information and history of this truck has been found and it is possibly the only one like itthat exists.

According to the previous owner, his truck was originally built for the United States Coast Guard. It served on the Oregon and Washington coast before being surplused in the 60's when the previous owner bought the truck at auction. He continued to operate the truck periodically, p through the 90's. It was started and driven occasionally after that and finally, as last ran in the early 2000's.

Original flathead six cylinder has been replaced by the period correct flathead V8 that is now in the truck

4 speed transmission

Rare Coleman 4x4 All Wheel Drive system

2 10k pound winches mounted to operate the boom

Factory coachbuilt crew cab conversion. Rear suicide door on the passenger side

Two front bucket seats with a bench seat across the back

Factory steel service box

The truck appears to be complete and missing only the engine cover and battery cover

Original, actory front bumper is straight

All stainless trim and emblems are present

All the sheet metal is straight and complete. However, he truck is obviously from the coast and has a considerable amount of rust throughout the truck. See pics.

Also included with this auction is a complete 1948 Ford F6 COE cab. It is complete with doors, enders, teps, unning boards, ood and grill. Also has V8 engine cover. No battery cover. Very solid cab with excellent sheet metal to rebuild the 4x4. No chassis or running gear. Cab only, o title. The chassis in the pictures is not included.

Once restored, his truck would definitely be a showstopper or the jewel of any personal or museum collection.
