Description of 1965 Ford Mustang

Early Mustangs are not getting less expensive, o if you've been looking for a V8 convertible, erhaps the time is now. This professionally restored 1965 convertible is a real V8 car, ot a conversion, nd carries a ton of desirable options including dealer-installed A/C, ower steering, ower brakes, nd a fresh Pony interior. On an early Mustang ragtop, obody can argue with the gorgeous Rangoon Red paint job this Mustang now wears, classic combination that will look awesome forever. The repaint was incredibly thorough, nd you can easily see that professionals were called in to make this one as good as it could be, nd the sheetmetal underneath is extremely straight. Thanks to a professional color sand and buff, he finish is deep and lustrous, orlds better than 1965 enamels might have been, nd the bright red is exactly right, ot too orange and not too dark, ut a vivid fire engine red that Mustang fans will appreciate. All the bright trim is new as well, ith GT-style fog lamps added during the restoration. Traditional Mustang styling cues include the quarter panel vents, he flip-up fuel filler in the center of the rear panel, nd, f course, he 289 badges on the front fenders, hich aren't exactly telling the truth (more on that in a moment). Peel back the white power convertible top and you'll find a beautifully restored Pony interior. Easy to imagine yourself behind the wheel on a sunny day, sn't it? A center console adds style as well as functionality, nd the A/C unit under the dash was your only choice in 1965, lthough it uses modern R134a refrigerant and modern hardware under the hood. New carpets, atching door panels, nd a nice red dash pad were all part of the upgrades. The gauges may very well be original and look quite good for their age, nd it's nice to see a correct fog lamp switch was used in the conversion. The stereo has been upgraded to an AM/FM/cassette unit in the dash, eeding speakers throughout the car, ncluding custom kick panel housings and an amplifier in the trunk. Open that trunk and you'll also find a correct mat, ull-sized spare tire, nd spare tire cover. This car wears 289 badges, ut was originally an F-code 260. However, hanks to the wonders of the small block Ford V8, t's now a torquey 302 that was dressed to look like a 289. With a 4-barrel carburetor and a custom dual exhaust system, his potent 5.0 has the most wonderful sound when you crack the throttle, nd the added horsepower makes it a lot of fun to drive. The engine bay is dressed up with Cobra valve covers and a few chrome pieces, ncluding the heavy-duty Monte Carlo bars, lternator, nd air cleaner. Functionally, t has no fear of the heat with a big aluminum radiator up front, ugmented by an electric fan that makes the A/C especially effective. Power steering and brakes make it a pleasure to drive, long with the C4 3-speed automatic transmission that makes it a joy regardless of traffic conditions. It's every bit as clean underneath as it is up top, nd there are a few other upgrades here as well, ncluding front disc brakes, hich are a welcome sight. Shiny styled steel wheels wear sporty 205/70/14 BFGoodrich Silvertown redline radials. There are cheaper Mustangs out there, ut few can match this ragtop's combination of beauty, rawn, nd quality.
