The original 289 was removed and sent to Christians Machine Shop in Corinth, ississippi for complete rebuild. It has the following parts:

  • Elgin Cam

  • Sealed Power Pistons

  • Dana Moly Rings

  • King Engine Bearings

  • Clevite Cam Bearings

  • Melling Oil Pump

  • Cloyes Timing Set

  • New Water Pump

  • New Radiator

  • 4-Speed was inspected and lubed

After drive train was removed, he complete underside of car was stripped for the beginning of restoration process. It has had the front floor pans replaced and FULL factory replacement rear quarters. (Both quarters had rust in the lower rear). The rear end was rebuilt and basically everything else under the car is new.(gas tank, ll gas and brake lines, rake hardware and pads, mergency brake system). The front end was replaced, f anything was reused, t was stripped and powder coated. All underside metal repairs were completed and then it was painted/lightly undercoated. It also has new shocks, heels and tires!

The interior is all new (seat covers, oor panels, arpet, indow/door handlesand dash pad). The top was professionally installed 1 month ago (all new weather-stripping). It is a Robbins Stayfast Cloth top and it looks amazing!!! Power top works great!! It has a Mustang Brand Radio with new speaker, hich has the classic look but also has USB capabilities. The heater box was completely rebuilt with new coil, eals, ables and hoses. It still has the original front seat belts.

The exterior was professionally painted in basecoat/clearcoat system in Raven Black. The doors, eck lid, ood and front fenders are all original metal, hey were stripped down to metal at the beginning. It has all new weather-stripping and window felt. All side glass is original and the front windshield and seal is new. As you can see in photos, t has new door latches, nside and outside handles and new door hinges. It has new emblems, umpers, aillights, ront park lights, ront and rear valences, ack-up lights and a magnaflow dual exhaust. It also has new front and rear wiring harnesses.

The car starts right up and drives great, ou can drive it with 2 fingers. Engine runs smooth and it shifts through all gears perfectly. In addition to factory equipment, installed a set of gauges under the dash for oil pressure, emperature and charging. I also installed a Be Cool pusher fan on the new radiator to ensure the engine stays cool.

When I purchased car the underdash air unit was gone, ut it still had all of the other hardware. I kept everything in case someone wants to put it back original. The 3 groove lower pully is installed on engine.

The 1964 ½ Mustang is of course the first one, he car that set in motion the phenomenon known as the "pony car" . While the story of how it came to be is too long for this page, he car indeed has its place in the annals as the car that started it all.

The Mustang was unveiled in New York at the World's Fair in April of 1964. The first car was however first produced on March 9th, t the historic Rouge Complex in Dearborn, I. The press was first invited to see and drive the car, n April 13th just 4 days prior to the public unveiling on April 17th. What would immediately follow are the many legends and stories about a huge ad blitz and public race to Ford dealerships to see and buy the car. It was an exciting and rip roaring car launch like we rarely see today.

While the first Mustang was known as a 1964 ½ model, hey were labeled in the vehicle identification number (VIN), ody serial tags, nd documentation as a 1965. While this at first would seem to cause confusion, here are many defining features and specifications unique to this model.

For one, he 1964 ½ Mustang was only available in a coupe and convertible body style, he fastback did not arrive until the 1965 model year production. Also, here were only two plants up and running for the 1964 ½ models, he Rouge Complex in Dearborn and a now defunct assembly center in San Jose, A. Also there were model specific engines such as the 170 cubic inch six-cylinder and 260 cubic inch V8 that were replaced with larger more powerful engines for 1965.
