Description of 1965 Ford Mustang

1965 Ford Mustang A Code Convertible I spent months trying to find this “A” Code 1965 Convertible. I had an Australian customer come to me looking for an “A” Code Convertible to take back to Australia with him when he returns. I could NOT find an “A” Code Convertible anywhere in the United States that meets our standards. By the time I finally found a car for him. he had given up and bought a couple of lesser C Code cars. Consequently. I am lucky to have this beautiful and rare “A” Code Convertible for sale now. As you can see from the pictures. it is fantastic in every way. It was the subject of a comprehensive total restoration a couple of years ago. When I purchased the car. it needed some attention in the engine compartment. In addition. I thought the doors needed to be re-painted because they were showing some wear. My shop pulled the engine compartment apart and bead blasted all removable parts such as front grille assembly. fender bolts. washer bracket. grille. convertible support brackets plus the regular bracket assembly. These items are all cleaned and prepped and primed and the proper semi-gloss color is applied. Incidentally. while we have the grill out. we clean and prep it and shoot it the proper color. It is really a very satisfying experience for us to make these cars look like this. When we do this process on the engine compartment it is very time consuming and tedious as there are NO short cuts. We also changed the upper radiator hose to be to a factory correct hose. plus pulled off the horns and blasted and repainted them. We also removed and bead blasted the shock tower caps and all the front grill assembly parts and the power steering pump top. You can see these items in a pictures I have provided. When these items were removed. we painted the radiator core support. We also cleaned and painted the entire engine compartment the proper color. When doing something like this it is hard to STOP!! All the items including bolts that were removed were blasted and repainted. I wish I could convey to you how much time and effort we put into these engine compartments. For instance. look at the fender bolts. Do they have blue paint on them like the color of the car? Probably 90 or more percent of the cars you look at have fender bolts painted the same color as the car. Did Ford do it that way? I don’t think so! The final touches to the engine compartment were the additions of proper concourse decals and the Auto-lite battery cover to the battery. When we pull a bracket or a latch assembly or even a bolt. they all need to be taken off the car (which sometimes is not always easy). We unfortunately do not have a machine that can do this; it is all done by hand. These pieces are then bead blasted. primed and painted the proper color. This engine compartment was actually much nicer than what you would normally see out there as the car had already been restored. But. because the car itself is so stunning. we are going through the whole process anyway. To me. the engine compartment on one of these classics tells the whole story. Most of the time when you look at the cars for sale. there are NO engine shots. Obviously the reason for this is the engine compartment looks so bad they do not want you to see it. When we do these engine compartments. we even get the Auto-lite battery cover and a new battery (which costs over $100) plus all the stickers and decals that were there when the car was new. The feeling I like to create when someone opens the hood on one of the cars that we have done is what I call the WOW FACTOR!! I want the person’s knees to almost buckle when you open the hood. The new owner of this car should be tremendously proud of the way their 1965 Mustang looks whether it is in the engine compartment or the interior or the trunk area or the floors. It all will look the way it should. This Mustang runs and drives the way it should. Everything works wonderfully well. Although this car had a total restoration. the engine compartment and the steel part of the doors needed to be freshened up because of use. As you can see by the pictures of the doors and the date code on the door. we had to pull off the door panels to paint the doors. The bottoms of the doors are in absolutely wonderful condition. especially considering they are original. Please note also how nice the underside of the car is. I hope you appreciate all the pictures of the engine compartment. underside of the doors. underside of the car. the trunk area and of course the exterior and interior of the car. Most of the time we sell cars either out of state or out of the country. Consequently. we provide as many pictures of everything as possible. I hope that you will compare the cars out there for sale with what we have here. Doing all of this to a car is very time consuming and expensive. The trunk of the car is not only nicely detailed. but it has a brand new spare tire. proper wheel. hold down pieces to secure the spare tire and proper jack and lug wrench. As I stated earlier. this Mustang has had a complete restoration a couple of years ago. but it has been driven quite a bit including s long trip to and from Pensacola. Florida. As a result of all this. I thought these items should be re-done to really show the extent of the total restoration and to make all these items nice and fresh now. After that we are going to freshen up the underside of the car so it looks really nice again. This Mustang is an extremely nice car and I know you would be tremendously proud to own it and show it. As you might imagine. it drives exceptionally well in all respects. Let’s talk date codes. The door tag says the car was built on January 12. 1965. The driver’s side fender shoes the date code of 12-30 (December 30). The passenger side shows 12-29 (December 29). The hood hinge on the driver’s side is 12-26. Now let’s go to the rocker panels. Both sides show the date code of 12/01 on both sides. The driver’s side door is 12/19 and the passenger side door is 12/14. If you are looking at a another Mustang now. ask the seller to provide you with the date codes that I have provided you with and see what they say. This car is equipped with the following options: Dual exhaust. Day/night mirror. Power steering. Style Steel wheels. Front and rear seat belts. rare long console. Luggage rack. Dual mirrors.
