Description of 1979 Ford Thunderbird Heritage |
1979 Thunderbird Heritage Edition ** NO RESERVE ** History: This Thunderbird Heritage is from the Bentley estate. This car. as I was told. has been in the family since new. Mr. Bentley passed about 2 years ago and I purchased it last spring when the estate was settled. The Heritage along with others in the collection were stored for many years. I bought it because of its rarity and condition. Reason for selling: I'm getting older and a planed lifestyle change means that I should reduce the number of cars I have. Mechanical: The car is. as far as I have been able to determine. a fully loaded Heritage with the optional sun roof and 5. 8 Liter engine. The tires are badly dry rotted but all will be replaced at my cost prior to pickup. The car starts without a problem. there are no strange noises and and no indication of oil consumption. The brakes work as they should as do the power options. The air conditioning system is intact and the belt is on but I have not tried it to see if it needs to be recharged or not. All electrical components seem to work as they should. the windows are quick and the seats work well at the time of writing. I have found no obvious mechanical problems although the exhaust is a little louder than I would expect it is by no means annoying. Under the hood is clean and original. Body: The body is very good with no visible sign of rust. There is far less than average wear on the paint with some touch ups over the years on a mostly factory original paint finish. I have not had it on a hoist but there is no obvious rust in the floors. There are no major dents and the trim is in decent shape. The vinyl top is cracked and will need to be replaced at some point. Interior: The interior is in very good original condition with less than expected wear. The seats have no tears the dash is completely original as are the door panels with no after market holes cut or drilled into them. The radio is original. the trunk covering is in good condition. Overall: This Thunderbird has not been restored or rebuilt it is in well taken care of condition. It has always had a mature owner and spent most of the last 15 years in storage. The mileage of just over 64. 00 is original. the tile is clear with no accident declarations. This car is not flawless. its a 35 year old car that has led a charmed life. but all vintage cars need work and although nothing is apparent I'm certain this one will as well. The Heritage Thunderbird's came in two colors Heritage Maroon and Heritage Baby Blue. it is estimated that less than 8000 blue cars were produced. Interestingly the Heritage was almost double the price of a regular Thunderbird in 1979. If your looking for a classic car that won't cost more than your house to buy and maintain then this may be the car for you. These cars are simple to maintain and powerful and a pleasure to drive. I'm offering this car at no reserve because I'm serious about downsizing and if I was to put the reserve at what I feel it is worth it may not sell. Location and Delivery: The car is located just outside of Salmon Arm. British Columbia. about 4 hours from the US border. If you are a buyer from outside of Canada I will help with importation as I am familiar with US and overseas procedure for importation. I can in many cases help arrange a shipper. but this is time consuming so I will only get a quote for the winning bidder. I think this car would be reliable for a road trip and if you want to fly in and enjoy the mountains and lakes of British Columbia while on the drive home. I am willing to store the car at no cost until spring. see payment section for details. Inspection: I am describing this car as I see it from a layman's perspective. I welcome you to come and see the car in person or arrange to have a local agent view it for you (this must be done prior to the end of the auction). If there is any specific concerns or questions you would like answered please email or if it requires a long answer call me. Bruce (250) 515-1110. US Importation: If you are a US buyer importation is simple. there are no taxes or duty applied when this car is brought into the US. If you import the car in person there are no fees. if not you will need to use a customs broker and there are many available. They charge around 250. 00 for their services. The Canadian paperwork that I will supply and the US Customs documents you receive will be submitted to title the car in your state. Payment: ** I will accept a deposit of $1000. 00 within 3 days of the close of the auction and I will store the car until April 1st. at no charge. At some point prior to April 1st. the balance will need to be paid in full and the car picked up. The deposit is non refundable. all payments must be cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer. If you want to just pay for the car and pick it up now. payment must be received within 7 days of the close of the auction NO EXCEPTIONS. Scammers: I've heard it all don't waste my time or yours. If you have less than 10 feedback please contact me after you bid so I can confirm that you are in fact a serious buyer Thanks for looking!!! |
