Description of 1964 Ford Galaxie

I'm selling my 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL. This is an exciting car. It is complete including all trim moldings and interior - except as noted in the exclusions listed above. I believe the engine and transmission are original to this car - it all looks correct for a Z-code 390 - but I have not removed the engine or transmission to verify this. All hoses, lamps and accessories in the engine compartment look just the way they should.
I purchased this awesome car from the original owner's grandson - almost 1 year ago. I had to give the DMV the original pink title - however, made a color copy of it. It has a clear title, n my name, nd is currently registered and is my daily driver. Mechanically, his car is truly amazing. It is fast, t steers tight and quiet - rides smooth, rakes well, nd is so much fun to drive - I truly am struggling to want to sell it. As noted in exclusions, t does have a leak in the control valve of the power steering system. I cleaned the power cylinder ram and the control valve - and verified that the leak is coming from the valve.
The car sat for many years until i purchased it last year. I had the carb rebuilt, ew front and rear brakes, rake lines where needed, as tank professionally cleaned and sealed. I had a pair of nice, lack, 964 Thunderbird seats installed - as shown in the photos. I still have the original green front seats which are also included in the sale. The original seats are fine for re-covering - but the material is torn and there are some springs exposed so not too comfortable. It turns out the '64 Galaxie and '64 Thunderbird used identical bucket seat chrome and plastic - its basically the same seat - but with different foam pad and vinyl design. So, he new owner can choose which bucket seats to restore.
All gages work great including the gas gage with new fuel sending unit, ead lights and tail lights all work great. The doors close perfectly. The '64 galaxies have a reputation for being very well built compared to years prior and after. The glass in both doors and rear quarters are in great shape - and roll up and down very easily.
The original color i believe is called "Aqua Marine" - similar to turquoise i think. As shown in the photos, had my body shop remove the brown paint from the hood and top sides of the car. In many cases the brown paint just peels off. The aqua marine/ Turquoise is clearly bleeding through all panels - and can be shown very clearly in the door jambs and the underside of trunklid. Apparently, he previous owner thought painting the exterior of the car 'root beer brown' but leaving the interior 'aqua marine' seemed like a good idea in the 70s. (i've actually seen this color combination a couple of times over the years). Aqua Marine is an unusual color but would look pretty bitchin in a nice restoration. In fact, was leaning toward painting it white - which is a great color on these galaxies - but when I saw the hood I realized it should probably be restored to its original color. Especially since the interior door panels are in good shape.
Rust - there is a little. I have found rust in two locations. The inside of trunk bottom has a lot of surface rust - which should be fixable with some POR-15 or other type of jelly that protects against rust. but it did develop a hole the size of a quarter at its lowest point below where the spare tire is mounted (spare tire is included). The other location is at the passenger side rear fender lip. I had the body shop fix this rust issue - dirt must have lodged at the inner lip and held some moisture. The hole along the lip was about 1/4" wide and about 2 inches long. Its been fixed and primered as shown in the photos. The floor pans look to be 100% rust free. So much so, hat even the factory rubber sound deadeners - all of them - are in excellent condition and should not need replacing. I had removed the carpet when i first bought it last year - but I can't find a photo of how it looked at that time. I have gently peeled back the sound deadener and it reveals the vibrant aqua marine paint - like new. The underside of the car is very clean. Inner fender wells all around look clean. Both the front and rear bumper brackets, races and connecting supports appear to have never been in an accident - based on my visual check only.
Body - the body panels all fit great - as mentioned both doors close very well, nd fit well. The only non-perfect body areas I have seen (which is shown in the photos) are the front few inches of the hood and each side of the front top fenders - an old layer or two of bondo and primer filler is present - which suggests old repairs. However, n both of these cases the areas are smooth and should be ready for paint. Also, here is some old bondo/primer work at the rear passenger side above the tail light next to the trunk lid. All photos were taken Oct 30,2015.
All chrome trim and stainless steel trim seem to be in very good condition - no pitting - a few locations can use some polishing but do not appear to have scratches, ings, r scuffs. Included is an extra body trim molding for the rear quarter panel (the long one that spans from the door edge to the rear spear). It can be placed on either side of car. The car does not need it since the ones installed are in good shape - but its an extra one for the new owner to have.
The aluminum rocker panel covers are included - and in very good condition. I can take a photo of them if desired. I removed them for the ebay photos in order to show how solid and rust free the rockers are - not to mention the original paint which shows no prior accidents at those locations.
If the new buyer is not 100% satisfied i will gladly buy it back deducting just $500 from the final purchase price (for up to 48 hours beginning when the new owner obtains the car and keys) assuming the car is returned in the same condition as it was originally delivered. The buyer must pay for all necessary shipping costs.
This is an exciting car. I hope the new owner forwards photos to me when its painted and restored. The '64 Galaxie 500XL is quite possibly the most exciting (and best built) car Ford ever produced. This car gets attention.
Please ask me any questions you like - and i will promptly respond and share on ebay as usual. thanks -gccOn Nov-02-15 at 20:33:10 PST, eller added the following information:

I'm not sure the photos posted show clearly enough how nice the body is. It is straight, ith no dings, aves or any imperfect panels - the only exception to this is the scratches you can see in the lower rear quarter panels (see the current photos). I will be adding a few additional photos tomorrow.
