Description of 1957 Ford Fairlane

A year before I retired I decided I wanted to build an old car. I already had done a few in the past. This time I didn’t want a custom exactly. My first choice was 1957 Ford Skyliner. I was used to welding body panels ect. But not this time. Number 1 objective was to find the best body on the planet. That took me a year. When I talked a man who bought 2 cars but only wanted one. He said in an estate sale there was a 1940 Ford convert. And this 1957 Skyliner. They wouldn’t sell him just one car. So to get what he wanted . he had to buy both. He described the Skyliner a perfect candidate because it was so straight and virtually rust free. But it was in a million pieces. Well what I want was a highway car with plenty of power. comfort and very pretty. Up for your consideration is that car. I didn’t build it to compete with bone stock Skyliners. Appears completely stock. But under the hood is the power I wanted and the seats are stock over stuffed for more comfort. It has cd/blue tooth. Four gauge Billet cluster w/tach. P. S . nbsp; P. W. . P. B. E. W . The six piece side glass is new. If you look under the car you will see new Flow Master Dual exhaust the large stainless tips give a hint of something more must be under that hood. New gas tank w/sending unit. Shocks . brake hoses ect. Under the hood is a 360V8 block ( same as 390 ) built to 428 Specs. The engine was a used engine but I knew the motor and owner for years. I knew it was good enough for me. New starter. one wire chrome alternator 105 amp. New chrome fuel pump. Dual temp controlled fans. Electric wipers. New updated brake booster. New three core radiator The body has two 1” size welds on the lower fenders and one small one on right rear panel prob 1” X 3”. That’s the only repairs that where needed. The floor is excellent. Most of the stainless is really good and there is some that need straighted but I put them on anyway for now. Bumpers are rechromed. There are 5 wire wheels w/new tires. What I woulda /shoulda/ coulda done was if I had gone with 15” wheels and tires it would now have disc brakes. If you know about drive lines I put my finger in the yoke and there is about two inchs of no spline. So cut that out. So now it need a replacement yoke to put it back as it was. It has a vibration. It wasn’t smart on my part but not serious. The top comes down onto the windshield it sits ¼ high on the right side. I pull it down ever so lightly as they screw in its fine. The doors and glass need adjusted better by someone better at it than me. Also the sunvisors and headliner need installed . I have the material that matchs the seat. I mention these w/s/c/a’s because I like being straight up with what I’m selling. If it sells great. If not so be it. I’ll finish it and drive it come summer. I find it important to mention . Read the spread sheet. Line by line if your really interested in this car. There is a lot of work and money spent on this car. A $300 non refundable deposit require at end of auction. Balance paid by cash or wire transfer. No checks. If possible come see the car. Pocatello. Idaho Come summer my wife and I are going Fishing/Camping/Traveling Thanks so much Feel free to call me with Any questions Vic 208-240-3579 peatrow52@yahoo. com Oh !! I almost forgot. The trunk or deck area. The deck lift screws are rebuilt with new bearings. As everyone knows these cars have very limited storeage area. Most people don’t want to fill that area with expensive suit cases that take up that valuable space. So what to do with that floor jack / lug wrench and cleaning supplies and lawn chairs ? Your looking right at them. Those suit cases are only about 2 ½ “ tall. It appears to be suitcases but it’s a lid. Cool huh? I can't figure out how to add the spreadsheet. Please email me I'll be glad to send it. It total $23. 89Up date on that vibration I blamed on the driveline yoke. ( Input of driveline ) Transmission shop been open 30 yrs. I told the owner the situation and he told me . cutting the yoke was fine no harm done. Without seeing the car but because of what I told him. He says he’s 90% certain the driveline is 1” to 1 ½ “ too short because of the length of the non stock motor and tranny. I said I was straight up about the car and I am. I’ve driven the car very few miles (200) If I start working on the car again I’ll prob. Keep it another year. So keep in mind the car is sold as is. And is a nice car.
