Description of 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet

This is an early production 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Fastback 428 SCJ. It is very real and authentic, ith a Marti Report. Build Date September 12, 969. This car was brought to us from Vermont for the purpose of full restoration by the owner. It sat for over 20 years, nd would be considered a barn find. From the history we have on the car, t was originally purchased in Massachusetts and remained in Vermont its whole life, ith one owner. It is now 95% + complete and virtually ready to roll. The most critical part of this listing is thelibrary ofpictures, long with the complete disassembly and step by step restoration. We can provide you with a web link that will show hundreds of pictures during the build process. In addition we encourage you to check our feedback on other vehicles, e have sold ourselves or for customers worldwide. We document everything, his is not a paint over with surprises. Every attention to detail has been observed and, ith only the few exceptions as noted above, t is factory correct.

In the listing pictures, ou will see a before and after picture at the end,we have included a variety of build pictures to give you a sense of the restoration. So often you don't know what is underneath. Also, lease view the video, hich includes even more build pictures as stated. We have hundreds of specific pictures at various stages of the restoration...if you want to see something specific let us know. All that is left is a handful of minor items mentioned below and a final polish. Last month an authentic R Code similar to this was sold at at Barrett Jackson. It was the only one sold through Barrett this year. This one will go for a very reasonable price comparativelyor whatever thehighest bid is.

In 1970 if a Mustang was ordered with the Ford 3.91 Traction Lok 9 inch rear end, t automatically came with the 428 SCJ engine. It also has the highly desirable and hard to find original 4 Speed Close Ratio Transmission (which was another option); and thiscar has the original Factory Hurst Shifter. The drive train was intact front to rear, nd has been completely rebuilt in every aspect: the engine, ransmission, nd rear end - all rebuilt/renewed. It also has correct exhaust manifolds, xhaust, orrect Holley carburetor, haker Ram air cleaner and on and on.

In order to protect the integrity of this build, very piece that was restorable to original condition was saved. Much of the lower sheet metal was rusted and replaced; including front and rear inner aprons, hock tower, adiator support, ith Big Block reinforcements, fenders, eadlight buckets, oors, omplete floor pan and reinforcements, owl cover, haker hood, ear quarter panels, umpers, umper brackets, as tank, as cap, ll ancillary clips and connectors. A complete new Chassis Kit; and engine compartment hardware kit was used, o all nuts, olts, ardware, lips and screws are new and correct. All seams sealed correctly.

The instrument cluster was disassembled and rebuilt from scratch, ew dash pad, carpet, eats, ick panels, oor panels, ill plates, illar trim, un visors, ead liner, nterior lights, ssociated hardware etc. New rubber throughout the car; all seals and weather-strip.The original main wiring harness was renewed and hand wrapped. No cut in's. New rear harness and new engine compartment harness. New trim all the way around, ew windshield and front and rearmoldings. The taillight bezels, overs, askets are all new, long with the front fog lamps, ide markers and parking lamps assemblies all new. Check the pictures and you will see all of the back sides of the metal were also painted and even the splash guards are new all with correct hardware. All hoses and miscellaneous parts have been replaced new with correct parts, ncluding factory part numbers.

This car was stripped to its frame rails and great care taken totreat all original metal. The paint, as done with multiple hand sands. 80, 50, 20, 00 and 600 in primer/sealer with the correct Medium Bright Blue Metallic (DuPont)base and clear, olished toamirrored finish. The underside is the correct red oxide finish, xcept it was hardened to protect from moisture. As the car was built, e painstakingly verified all part numbers from the original parts on everything from the seat foam to the crank pulley and everything in between. The metal dash assembly was removed, nd sanded, ainted and reinstalled. Nothing was left untouched. The correct firewall insulator installed properly, ith the heater box and controls rebuilt and restored. Correct factory sound deadening below the carpet and all interior screws hardware and ancillary parts correct for the car, nd correctly installed.

All new or renewed brakes components, earings, eals with all original metal media blasted and painted to specification. Front power disc brakes, ith all new brake lines, ccessories and a new power booster. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and provide specific pictures you would like to see, s mentioned. This is the closest 1970 Mach 1 428 SCJ you will find to the original build - as it was when it left the dealership on October 31, 969. According toMarti this was one of 1,371 R codes with a Four Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission built in 1970 and only 1 of 857 built with all of theseoptions. There are not many authentic 428 SCJ's with these option left, specially in this condition; as a virtually brand new car. This car should be insured for full replacement value.
