Evolve Motors is pleased to present our client's 1979 Ford Mustang V8 Indy Pace Car! We have been hired to sell yet another gorgeous vehicle owned by one of our customers in Memphis, N .

The 1979 Mustang was selected as the pace car for the 63rd running of the Indy 500. While there were 3 non-street legal versions built to run on the track Ford went ahead and produced street legal versions for consumers to purchase. They built V8s and Turbo 4's with fewer of the more desirable V8's produced. This particular car is one of only 2,106 V8's built with the Selectshift Automatic transmission. It has a rare Cruise Control option. This is a true survivor with original miles. It has complete documentation from the protecto-plate all the way to the actual punch card from the factory build. This car spent many years tucked away in a garage and it is an excellent example of a all original survivor pace car.

The body is unmolested and in its original condition. It is not perfect but it is original and straight, howing fantastic patina. The panels are solid and straight and the panel gaps are consistent. The front bumper shows some normal road wear consistent with the mileage. The headlights are clear and nice. We note some paint blemishes near the top of the right fender where it meets the bumper (see pics). The front end is square and appears free from any accidents. The hood looks solid although we do note some light surface rust on the underside, othing sever (see pics). The decal kit is original and looks very nice throughout. The strut towers and firewall are nice and solid free from rust. We note a high crease in the passenger side windshield pillar, ikely from dropping something onto the car in storage. The rear bumper is nice and shows some normal loading and unloading paint blemishes. The left rear quarter panel has some dings that appear to have been partially repaired. There are some paint blemishes in this area (see pictures). The panel is otherwise solid and straight. We note some surface rust on the inside of the door panels but nothing that we feel requires any attention. The roof is solid and free from rust. The rockers appear solid and dry. The glass throughout the car is in great shape and we note some window trim paint fading/flaking (normal and consistent throughout). The wheels are in great shape and we note some minor oxidation on the center caps. We also note that the rear hatchback gate struts no longer hold pressure and should be replaced.

Inward, he interior is all original and shows very nicely. The seats are in excellent condition front and back. We note only a small tear on the right lower portion of the drivers seat . Otherwise, he seat material is excellent and taught throughout. The meshing in the headrest are nice and tight. The steering wheel looks great and houses the rare optional Cruise Control switches. The headliner has some light sag and could use to be re-adhered. The carpets look great. The car is odor free and clearly a NON-SMOKER. The gauges all show very nice and clear. The door panels look clean and nice as does the interior hardware. The console looks fantastic and the shift lever and gate all both nice. The interior is all original and shows consistent with the mileage and the overall condition of the car. You will not be disappointed!

Under the hood sits the factory/VIN correct 5.0L V8. (F code). We believe this to be all original, echanically. We note a possible added belt tensioner but otherwise the car looks factory correct throughout. The engine fires up and runs as smooth and quietly as a 13,000 mile V8 should. It drives equally as smooth and is a pleasure to cruise in. The transmission shifts smoothly, he car tracks straight, nd it stops nice and straight as well. The steering feels nice and tight free from excess play or steering slop. We do not see any ground spots from leaks however we must assume that it may drip from time to time. The car has been serviced and is in excellent running and driving condition. The underside shows normal surface oxidation and is nice and solid. Overall this is a very stout '79 Mustang!

This is a great survivor car in its original paint and shows fantastic patina throughout the years. Please view all pictures carefully as we have done our best to describe it in great detail.
