1937 Ford Model 78

By 1937 most Detroit manufacturers were thinking about aerodynamic design. Ford was no exception and the 1937 Ford gave way to modifications that were considered both aerodynamic and somewhat Art Deco. The headlights int the fenders and grille spoke to both of those points. There are some Ford people who feel their favorite Ford design is the 1937. The flared in headlights were new to the 1937 models and added much to a slick appearance. In 1937 Ford also came out with a larger water pump to aid cooling and the slant back sedan's gained a rear trunk lid. In 1937 Ford even bragged about its new all steel roof, ide roomy car with a low center of gravity. Even the new split windshield would open up on each side for additional ventilation. The steering ratio was adjusted for easier steering and the brakes were revised and improved.

It is somewhat sad to note that while Ford produced a large volume of cars during the year of 1937; many of them were just consumed by the users and sent to the junkyard. Those that were still left running after World War II were usually used for hot rods and customs. Some say that the most popular car for hot rodding was the 1936-1938 Fords.

The good news is that the 1937 Ford in this ad has always had the best of care all of its life. First of all we believe that anybody looking at the pictures will get that impression immediately but the finite proof might be in the fact that this car has an unbelievably ORIGINAL interior! Just take a close look at the interior and wonder how it could survive almost 80 years and be in such fabulous condition. If an original mohair interior can be in this good of condition you can just about be assured that the car was never abused.

The current cosmetic condition of the car is in extremely good taste finished in Ford's favorite color of "you can have any color as long as it is black" . Take a look at the precision of the front grille slats, he beautiful stainless and chrome and the way the car sits very square just as it should. We just love the Deluxe wheels on this car with the chrome hubcaps with the chrome trim rings and the right size white wall tires. The delicate white pin striping from front to back adds just the right amount of good taste in contrast. This car has a straight body, eautiful black paint job and wonderful chrome as you can see in the pictures. The rubber on the running boards is just as beautiful as the rest of the car and each side has a non-obtrusive side view mirror.

We would like to emphasize the condition of the interior again for it shows that this car was never abused. Certainly the first thing to go in the 1937 Ford if it is abused would be the delicate interior. The beautiful mohair interior in this car is in shockingly good original condition. The faces on the gauges are highly attractive. The private seller has stated that mechanically everything seems to be working very fine.

Check out the backseat, t looks like it was never even sat on as it is showing just about no wear in the pictures. The trunk is also extremely tidy along with a very clean underside - the seller has provided lots of photos to view!

Mechanically you might want to make note that the car according to the owner has the original engine that was rebuilt, as the original mechanical brakes that the owner says stops the car as they should. The three speed standard transmission also works fine. The owner has stated that to the best of his belief it is an all original car with one repaint and a rebuilt engine (about 1,600 miles since it was rebuilt). The owner has indicated that the 6 volt system works just fine and starts the car just as it should.

Here at MissChiTown we help many collectors through out the United States market their cars on eBay. We have had the opportunity to see many collector cars in various levels of condition. We would have to say that this 1937 Ford Tudor leaves a high impact impression just by looking at it. That is a feat that is not typically accomplished by many of the other Fords that we have seen. This is a wonderful opportunity for a collector who just wants to have one great Ford or for a collection that needs another Ford to be one of the stars of the show.

We know that are those who will be wondering how this car could be in such good condition for its age. As far as the owner knows, or at least the last 50+ years it has been kept in heated storage. The current owner has made us aware that he is the fourth owner of this car and has only put about 400 miles on the car with the longest trip being 50-60 miles. The seller says that he usually takes it for drives close to home weather permitting.

In the owners words he tells us that the car starts, uns, tops as it should and the clutch works good and the transmission operates fine.

The owner wants to disclose that there is one small tear in the headliner and one flaw in the paint that you can see in one of the pictures. The flaw in the paint is when he was filling it up with gas one time and for whatever reason the gasoline took off a small portion of paint right by the filler. This area will need to be blended in with obviously matching black paint by the new owner. It is always nice to have an honest owner and he has also told us that to the best of his knowledge the car has never been driven in the last 50 years in rain.

Again check out these pictures, ecause if you are a Ford man you will know that you are looking at a very fine Ford that has been available in recent times. To top this off the reserve is reasonable and may actually be considered low. Please do not ask reserve. This is one car that you can bid to win and be happy that you did.
