Description of 1949 Ford Shoe Box

Up for auction is this cool looking old hot rod, '49 'Shoe Box', 2 door post. These Ford's were liked for the early hot-rodders. This car's original 'flat head' six cylinder engine(226 CI)has been totally rebuilt. It starts easily, idles smoothly and cool. It has 3 on the tree manual tranny that shifts smoothly though all gears. It has a new clutch disc, pressure plate and throw-out bearing with no clutch chattering at all. It has new shocks and exhaust. The car has brand new radial tires and new chrome rims that are very sharp. It rides nice with the radial tires vs. the bias ply. It has a brand new chrome grill & front & back bumpers. The paint is recent and looks good, however, is not show quality by any means. It has 2 visible runs that could possibly be wet sanded out, however, over all it looks pretty sharp. The wind wing window has a crack along with the passenger side window with both intact. All other glass is OK. The trunk pan looks solid as do floor pans. The interior was redone at some point in a black velour and looks very presentable. The gauges & lights all seem to work. It has a newer 6 volt battery. The brakes are good. The garnish molding could use a cleaning up.This is an overall nice hot rod for the money. It is mechanically very good and could drive anywhere. It is missing only one front parking lamp lens. It has a rebuilt engine, new tires & rims, recent paint, stops, runs and stops excellent. It is a nice daily driver and a quality 1949 Ford Shoe Box.
