Description of 1986 Ford F-150 |
1986 Ford F 150 Ol Red. This truck has been in our family since purchased new in 1986. In the first few years, the truck was a daily driver and had stints of rest while owner 1 served in the military. As years passed, Ol Red became a weekend warrior into the woods only as a transport for camper and atv for the second owner (owner 1 & 2 are close family). Not many mud holes hit in this rig, yet wouldn't be scared to take one on with the granny low transmission. For about 5 of the past 10 years, Red was parked and not driven. About 3 years ago, we revived her, having the carburetor rebuilt and outfitted with new wheels and tires. At that point, mileage was around 70k. It became a daily driver for 2 years, has never had a problem starting or anything major to replace or have fixed. During those 2 years, typical maintenance and part replacements were needed for a 30 year old truck that hadn't had a lot the original ball and joint type of replacements. Today, it is back to roaming around the property being more of a garden tool hauler. As I believe the clutch needs to be replaced, just not financial feasible for me at the moment to repair and I don't want it to sit up and needed other repairs or end up rotting away. This is a very special truck, Im bummed to part ways with it. Yet know it is time to pass on to someone else who can put the TLC in Red and make the memories of another 100k miles. key notes pros & cons: made in Canada starts every time (responds great to cold weather) under 100k miles 4 speed granny low transmission 4x4 works great manual locking hubs Inline 6 cyclinder 2 15 gal gas tanks 33" tires no problem for the engine aftermarket 17" wheels heater is top notch - burn ya out the cab triangle door windows gun racks flooring that can take on a water hose for cleaning small dents on back of cab - got into a fight withatv during loading small leak of coolant to watch - hasn't been a problem (only leak) small tear in seat -driver side - bench vinyl small blemishes/tears in paneling of the truck bed, far rear on both sizes and at the bottom 2 softballish size hole in top of dash, i use it for a cup holder so actually works out pretty well needs: clutch replacement air conditioner hooked up (heat only at the moment) front window replacement - no leaks just has cracks - cosmetic need weather striplings for door windows - no leak just in need regular maintenance, repairs and fixes for 30 yr old vehicle small plastic piece to ease the opening of tailgate (if you know how to reattach if it comes unattached the tailgate opens every time) - easy fix or adjustment any questions send a message *delivery or pick up with trailer is available* |
