Description for Ford Other Pickups 1939

1939 ford pick up with extensive custom work Body was lowered years ago by taking out 7" between the door hinges. Floors were original, and in good shape as were the door jams and kick plates. The stock light wt floor pans were removed . The perimeter of the body was then reinforced and an 11gauge floor was installed. 11 gauge lower Firewall was also welded in.
mating the upper original firewall.
Frame, main frame is 1950 ford F 100, 4" 1/4" channel was welded inside the frame rails, button welded thru all existing frame holes and a few more, then skip welded top and bottom of channel to frame. All tied in to the 1981 Firebird front sub frame. New frame rail to frame rail gussets were added, made out of square tube, 3/16" wall, frame was then boxed with 1/8" plate, both inside and outside of the frame rails.
Suspension: 1981 Firebird, new everything on the suspension, Tubular upper and lower control arms, steering control arms, bushings, gussets, shocks, ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links and mounts. Coils were cut 1.5 inchs, new bearings, rotors and disc brakes.
Rear suspension, new leif springs, new shocks, wheel bearings/seals new rotors and calipers ( That's right 4 wheel disc brakes), new 390:1 Richmond ring and pinion gears mounted in a posi rear end. N 50 tires on rear
New chrome master cylinder with booster, New chrome engine pulley set with chrome water pump, power steering pump and chrome alternator. New 1930-31 Model A look 3 core radiator for small block chevy.
New Speedway 22 Circuit GM/Chevy wiring harness with compact fuse box for rods. Complete set of Equis gauges, including speedo and tach and fuel. I left the additional circuits coiled up incase the next owner wants to get fancy with a heater, radio or air.
Spark/ignition New Pro Billet Racing Distributor MSD. Ignition, 6 AL Ignition box with multiple spark and 2 rev limit settings, New MSD High output coil. (This may get switched out with a new HEI if I don't like the rev limiter settings)
Engine, race ready 350 c.i./375 hp motor- now plus dual quads so probably about 410 hp. Virgin block, 2 bolt main, new crank and cam bearings, new cam- 3/4 race circle track hydraulic cam and lifters, new pushrods. New roller rocker arms, new 4 valve relief pistoms, 2.02 heads, twin 650 Holly carbs on a Weiand Tunnel ram manifold. This motor is fresh with less than 10 miles on it as I write this. Break in oil will need to be changed after a few hundred miles, not sure I will have the time to put those miles on it.
Power train- Torque converter, Art Carr 900 hp rated 3,000 stall. Recently rebuilt Turbo 400 trans, new universals in shortened driveshaft, New 8.5 Richmond Ring, pinion and bearing in a posi traction spool 2nd gen Firebird carrier.
4 wheel disc brakes, with power brakes and power steering Tilt Firebird/Trans am steering column with column ignition.
Originally this truck came with a single windshield wiper. Thats what it has now, except it's electric. I have a second one that goes with the truck incase you want two. But driving in the rain probably isn't wise with the carbs right out there.
This truck is my version of what a rat rod should be. Everything that matters was done right. Cab floors were over laped to gie it the rigidity I feel is right. Body and bed were mounted with reinforced rubber spacers. Suspension was done with no expense spared. Handles great, safe to drive at highway speeds, hauls ass and looks good.
I didn't spend a great deal of time on the paint and finish body work- door seals because its a rat rod/ hot rod, not a trailer queen or parking lot decoration. I painted it red with Fleet farm Regal red enamel, some urethane hardner added. But if you have a scratch, a ding or need to touch it up, you can get regal red in a spray bomb. Plus if you decide to rat it up with your version of old/rusty what ever, you can make it the way you want without destroying an expensive pain job. I built this to enjoy, not sit in a garage.
The bed floor is made from a single plate 1/8" diamond plate steel with two hinged traps, one to access the battery, the other to to fuel cell. Both sit flush with the rest of the floor. Painted flat black and bolted down with black button head allen bolts. Easy enough to undo if a wood slat bed is your desire.

This truck is an awesome ride, handles like it's on rails and everyone wants to check it out. But remember the body was lowered 7" between the hinges, I am 6'1", 268 lbs. I am 62 years old and pretty beat up. Getting in or out of this truck is not a big deal for me, but if you are 6'5" and 300 lbs, it probably won't be so easy. For anyone under 5'8" it'd be a breeze.
