Description of 1965 Ford Mustang

Car is being relisted account non paying bidder. 1965 Mustang convertible. Fresh barn find. Owner was an elderly man who backed the car into the barn in 1992. He removed the radiator and drained the coolant. Will need radiator account could not find original. This car is a solid restoration candidate. The frame rails are solid from the front all the way to the rear bumper. The shock towers and torque boxes are solid. I think the floor pans will have to be replaced. but they are still intact. The door sills and rockers are very solid. All the glass is good and windows go up and down as they should. Rear window in top has deteriorated hence the plastic covering. The vin# is 5F08C301197 and it is stamped into the driver side fender support sheet metal. The engine is the original 289 v8 with a 2-barrel carb. The tag on the manifold is 289 65 5 4J N 550J. Interior-- black buckets with extra set of seats. dash is in great shape and dash pad on top has no cracks. original AM radio. carpet is bad. have a new gauge bezel that goes with car. power top motor works. top frame is in good shape. Exterior-- pale yellow paint put on in the 80's and is peeling off. Car was originally metallic blue. Some rust. as would be expected. but I don't see anything that is rusted through. Bad rust around battery tray. Hood and trunk are good shape and body is pretty straight. No rust around front windshield valance or the rear convertible top opening. Hubcaps are original with Ford mustang spinners. 14 in. wheels. All wheels roll. Drivetrain-- engine is free and turns over nicely. Tried to start but carb is a mess. No water in the oil. 3 speed trans that seems to go through the gears ok. Clutch seems to work. The owner who stored the car said it ran fine when he stored it. I was going to restore myself. but I'm going a different direction. I have tried to present this car honestly and the pictures are the best I could do. The extra stuff that goes with the car: convertible top boot cover. original jack and tire iron. extra glove box covers. tail light surrounds. new dash gauge bezel. extra set of seats. I put in new plugs and points and got the engine to fire a little but carb is a mess. Clear title in my hand. Feel free to ask any questions.
