Description of 1985 Ford F-250

If you have been looking for a nice older F-250 but have found them over priced or just flat out beat up, you can stop looking. This 1985 has all of the options and a few more that most wish for. Let’s start off with the main things first. This truck was ordered with the XLT Lariat package which includes the following options.

460 4V V8 Engine

C6 Automatic Transmission

Power Steering

Power Brakes

Cruise Control

Tilt Steering Wheel

Air Conditioning ( System has been serviced and works great! )

Deluxe Velour Cloth Seat

AM FM Cassette radio ( Now up graded to USB style blue tooth type )

Power Windows

Power Door Locks

Delay Wipers

Front and Rear Anti Sway Bars

8600 GVW Spring Package

Extra Heavy Duty Brake System

Dual Group Size 27 Batteries

Class 5 Receiver Hitch and Trailer Brake Controller ( Dealer Installed )

The previous owner also opted for dual camper style mirrors, 3.54 to 1 gear ratio, 4X4, auto trans, and opposing rear seats rather than rear bench seat for more passanger leg room.

The previous owner also had a Gear Vendors Over Drive unit installed and it works great! It automatically shifts into overdrive around 45 miles an hour. It makes a BIG difference in the engine RPM and the gas mileage too! The things I have done are as listed below.

Complete stripping of old paint and base coat clear coat of factory color “Regatta Blue” metallic paint

New Windshield ( Real “Car lite factory Ford” not a cheap after market Junker! )

New headlight doors and grill ( old grill looked bad against new paint so I replaced all of it with new )

Powder coated factory 16” wheels. Correct argent silver color too.

New 235/85/16 All Position Radial 10 ply tires. Less than 200 miles on them.

The tail gate on this truck was removed when the truck was new and placed in a box. The inside of the tail gate has only minor scratches from being moved around in storage.

The overall condition of the body of this truck before paint was almost dent free. I opted not to two tone the paint again because I preferred the cleaner look of one color. The truck was originally blue and silver.

There were a few small rust spots in the inside bottoms of each door but were treated before paint. The interior was completely disassembled repainted, and or cleaned including the seat. The headliner was replaced with a new one at the same time too. The carpet was removed scrubbed, pressure washed and reinstalled. I do have a brand new replacement carpet kit from ACC but thought that the original was in excellent shape and chose to use it instead. New kit does come with the truck. All new door seals including window wiper seals were installed too! Tail lights showed there age from sun light so I replaced those with new ones along with new marker lights and side emblems too.

There are a few nice things about the mid 80’s Ford trucks to keep in mind. They are the last of the non computer carbureted trucks that Ford built. No worries about strange sensors going bad or non compatible computer reader systems, or just getting stranded with no way to fix it. Just two pumps of the gas pedal in the morning hit the key and you’re on your way. This truck drives great and with the overdrive, better than the rest of the same aged trucks and no weird early primitive factory overdrive transmission that are prone to fail repeatedly. Most people are unaware of the cost of the Gear Vendors Overdrive units. The set up for this style Ford 4x4 runs a price tag of $3000.00! Gear Vendors guarantees this unit for up to 1000 continuous horse power! They just don’t break!!!

Even though most of all the hard work has been done to this truck, there still are a few bugs to work out for the new owner this is a short list of the things I know to be in need of repair.

Rear gas tank fuel pump and sending unit need replacing ( $85.00 )

Windshield wiper motor needs replacing ( They work just fine but a little to slow on the delay. A new not rebuilt motor is included with the truck)

Driver’s side power window motor needs replacing. ( Again it works, just slow over the years of use but a new motor is also included with the truck)

You can bid with confidence on this truck, it is truly above the average nice truck you see on EBay. Odometer shows 35,000 miles on it. The previous owners said that the mileage to be only 35k and them being in there late seventy’s lead me not to disbelieve them. However that’s up for interpretation on the millage. It’s a very nice driving and looking truck that fits well with a hard day’s work, or right at home at a local car show. It’s as close to stock with just the right amount of upgrades. No giant tires, lift kits, headers, after market hot rod junk, and never owned by a kid!

Now for my basic auction rules:

Truck is to be paid for in full no later than “3 days, 72 hours” after auctions end via bank to bank transfer only unless other arrangements have been made with seller “ME” prior to auctions end.

Truck is sold “AS IS WITH NO INTENT OF WARANTY OR REFUND” The truck is thirty years old and though has been well cared for over the years with many upgrades, cosmetic and mechanical both, it’s not perfect nor should it be thought of as perfect.

The reserve has been set at a reasonable price and should be easily met. With that being said, I will not be ending the auction early for a buy it now price and will let the auction run it’s coarse. I find it unfair to those who work and can’t look at the results all day and then find out it’s gone when they’re ready to bid.

If you have any questions to ask or need more pictures, just ask. I will answer them and forward any extra pictures you need. And with that, HAPPY BIDDING!
