Few would have thought the 1932 Ford would become the basis for street rod creations that encompass high performance, innovative design and time proven craftsmanship. The Muroc Roadster takes its name from the settlement on Rogers Dry Lake in California that was witness to the dawn of drag racing and rise of Southern California hot rodding. This hand-built roadster is the result of a collaboration between heavyweights Chip Foose and Jerry Kugel. The sleek Ford street rod is one of 10 Muroc Roadsters built with an all-metal body, has taken home several car show honors and was featured in the December 2000 issue of Street Rodder Magazine. Under the hood is a 5.7-liter Chevrolet Corvette Z06 V-8 engine built by Street and Performance of Mena, Arkansas. The LS6 delivers 405 horsepower through a GM 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission with a Lokar shifter. The detailed engine bay is equipped with a Mattson radiator for cool running. The Roadster channels the power to the rear wheels with a powdercoated chassis and a fully independent and highly detailed suspension. Dual A-arm front suspension with coilover shock absorbers and vented disc brakes work with the polished and chromed Kugel Jaguar-style independent rear suspension with inboard disc braking for maximum road and power control. The hand-formed aluminum and steel body was crafted and smoothed into perfection by Marcel and Sons and finished into its red over black two-tone paint scheme by Showtime Auto Body. The custom black interior with patterned seats and door panels was upholstered by Gabe Lopez and is accented by billet, polished and chromed components and topped with a Budnik billet leather-wrapped steering wheel on a tilt-steering column. Staggered width 17-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle HP tires give the Muroc Roadster its traditional rakish stance and modern ride.
