Description of 1976 Ford Bronco

1976 Ford Bronco Explorer: VIN U15GLB03485. 1 of 1. 10 Explorers built in 1976. TITLE IN HANDU15 - wagon 4x4G - engine code - 302 2VL - assembly plant - MichiganqB03485 - unit number - August 1975 build4600 max gvwr92 inch wheel baseColor H Type U151- wagon 4x4Body TU - cloth and vinyl in tanTrans G - c6 automaticAxle B8J -3. 50 rear end. power steeringDSO 73 - Salt Lake City I searched the country for a solid Bronco when I found this one in Washington State and had it shipped to Georgia in December 2013. Since my purchase. I have put almost 8000 miles on it. which has given me the opportunity to sort a ton of stuff on it that bothered me. This truck starts up every time. tracks perfectly straight and brakes hard with no pull to the left or right. The transfer case works exactly as designed with no issues. It is exceptionally clean on top and bottom and shows very well. It came with Factory Automatic Transmission. Factory Power Front Disc Brakes. Factory Power Steering. Added prior to my ownership was a James Duff 2 1/2" Suspension Lift (per P. O. but I cannot be certain it is this brand) and degreed C bushings. I was going to put a Wild Horse 2. 5 lift in it until a friend of mine that is running a WH lift in his truck said mine road too nice to worry about swapping out. It also had New Seat Upholstery. Brand New Carpet and Door Panels and New Wheels & BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Tires. The truck was originally Medium Copper (paint code H). but was resprayed in recent years in a great color that is slightly more red than the original color (Dash and door jams still original color and condition). I get a lot of compliments on the color. It has a great shine and presents well. but Is not perfect. A solid ‘2-footer’ All of the exterior marker lights had been replaced with new units. The tail light moldings had also been replaced with nice reproductions. The front grill was repainted along with the installation of new headlight rings and bumpers. A CD player had been installed along with some 6x9 boxed speakers in back. The 302 engine is believed to be the untouched original and runs well and started with ease in hot or cold weather. It is stock right down to the air cleaner and 2V carburetor. It has been nicely detailed with the correct color paints to look like it did when new. The C4 automatic shifts perfectly with no signs of wear. The tires and wheels were new as well. Highly polished aluminum rims have been fitted with high quality 33x12. 50 BF Goodrich Radial Mud Terrains. The spare is a smaller 31 inch tire so as not to put too much strain on the tire rack. Since I bought the truck. I have continued to improve on it. I have spent in excess of $5k on continued sorting of the truck to make it run and drive as well as it possibly can. Noted Flaws I would rather someone not buy the truck then buy it but it not meet their expectations. so here are all of the flaws I can think of. PAINT – the paint present very well. but has a few small stone chips and blemishes on the front. The pivot point has some spots where the paint has chipped off. When the truck was painted. it was done with the hard top still on. so the inside of the truck. dash and door jambs are the original color and condition. There is a line on the top of the bedrails where the old and new color meet. but is it covered by the soft top. A PO painted the engine bay a color that is too red to match the truck it looks nice. just doesn't match. A previous brake fluid leak caused some paint to peel off the driver side fender. The leak has been fixed. BODY – the body is extremely straight with no dents or scrapes and very solid. I recently had the interior door panels off replacing all the window felts and the inside of the doors were bone dry. In fact they were dusty like they had been sitting in a very dry climate for many many years (the truck came out of Idaho). However. There is some corrosion on the driver’s side inner fender (the same that is scene on many Broncos). Also. the driver and passenger floor plans were patched previously with some sheet steel. It works just fine. but bothers me since I know it is there. It is on my list of things to correct if I keep the truck. There are also some holes where a 4 point roll bar had been installed previously that did not line up with the new 6 point roll cage. ENGINE – the odometer shows 81k miles. The engine runs great and pulls strong. I have been told it puffs a small bit of smoke at startup. but I have never seen it. When I bought the truck. it was leaking from several places. but after I replaced the oil pan. water pump and timing chain cover gaskets and intake gaskets. it appear to be dry. TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE – these both work perfectly. but the transfer case drips a little. SUSPENSION and STEERING – the truck has a 2. 5 inch lift. but is very comfortable to drive. It rides down the road very straight and does a pretty good job absorbing the bumps. I can run down the freeway at 70 mph and the truck tracks perfectly straight. I had the power steering ox rebuilt within the last few months and all bushings in the steering linkage are tight. No known issues at this time. INTERIOR – the seat covers were replaced by a PO and are in great shape with the exception the driver’s seat has a small hole about the size of a corn kernel. The rear seat is in great shape – the rear arm rests are not currently installed. I have them but they need to be recovered. I bought some new covers for them. but was not happy with how they turned out. so I never re-installed them. The Carpet is in very nice shape with a thick jute backing. but shows some blemishes where an old 4 point roll bar was installed (now replaced by a 6 point but the feet did not mount in the same places)ELECTRICAL - all lights work as designed as well as the heater and defrost. I replaced the turn signal switch with a new one when I got it because the return did not work going right or left. Now. the right turn signal does not return. the left works fine. From my research. I have found this to be a recurring issue. so I am not going to invest the money and time on installing a new one again. All in all. this is a extremely solid truck that performs exceptionally well mechanically. I have driven the truck over 8000 miles in the last 11 months and it has never faltered. I am only selling it to scratch an itch I have for an original uncut Bronco – I am open to trades. On Nov-25-14 at 11:41:33 PST. seller added the following information:RESERVE LOWERED!!
