Description of 1985 Ford Ranger Explorer |
Rare* 1985 Ford Ranger, Explorer package, 4-wheel-drive, 5 speed manual transmission, V6. Made in USA. This is a great truck. The overall condition of the truck is good. The engine, transmission, transfer case, axles, brakes, are good. It will require a little work [est. 100$ in parts] to make it road-worthy again, but this truck would be ideal for a complete restoration. It could also be parted out very easily, or simply driven as is, with the repairs listed below. To make it road worthy again, it will need, in order of importance a)clutch fan b)compression fitting for leak in rear brake line [easily visible/located on first glance] c)new oil cap to tie-in to intake [lack of proper cap is causing oil to come out of gasket] d)shifter bushing e)valve adjustment. The truckcan be test-driven about ten-minutes or so before it gets hot, because of the clutch fan. There are four sections of metal that surround the headliner trim that are not attached, but included behind the rear seat, along with a seat cushion spring/jack/and gasket. The truck appears to be all-original, with the exception of bondo on the rear fender area, visible on drivers side photo. The passenger side wiper will need a part replaced to regain function. The truck has spent most of its life around the Jefferson National Forest in Virginia with a single owner, and has been very well cared for the last 30 years. It has spent the last two years in the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. Note: the odometer on the truck only goes to 100,00 then rolls back to 0, so the odometer reads 79,822. Because of this, the mileage is not listed on the title, thusthe term "mileage in excess of mechanical limits" If you have any questions, email me and I will respond when I receive your message.
