Description of 1953 Ford Fairlane Mainline Customline

Here is a 1953 Ford Mainline Sedan for your consideration. I have owned the car for a little over 3 years. In that time, I have been beyond impressed withdependabilityand performance of this cruiser. In fact, I drive it to Back to the 50's and Good Guys Des Moines events and think nothing of 300+ mile trips. It gets around 20 MPG on the highway thanks to the 4 speed Toploader overdrive. The engine is a 302 (5.0) Ford Roller Motor from a Mustang GT. The rear axle is a 9" Ford with 3.89 gears.
Interior is very nice. There are seat belts for the front seats and a child safety seat system for the back. The 4 pt harness shown was used for my daughter. I have another (2 to make a pair) I will include in the auction. The speedometer runs fast, the stock oil pressure gauge does not work. There are auxillary gauges (Oil Pressure, Water Temp, and Volts) that are in excellent working order mounted under the stock dash.
As far as the the paint and bodywork, it is decent, especially for a driver. I would judge it to be a 7. It photographs well and looks great at 15 ft. Closer than that and flaws (scratches, chips, fades, etc) can be seen. A rod mounted under the car opens the trunk. The stock key does not work to access the trunk. The passenger window is cracked and would need to be replaced. It is flat glass and should be easy and economical to replace. I have some new rubber and window tracks/wipers that I will include to the winning bidder.
Tires are in great condition. Wheels are stock '53 Ford with "Full Moon" Discs.
The undercarriage is again, decent for a driver. It was painted at the start of the 2014 season when on a hoist. There are new engine and undercarriage pictures. They were taken on 8-23-16.
Selling due to building a '32 Ford and needing to "thin the herd."
No warranties or returns. Shipping arrangements and costs are sole responsibility of the buyer.
