Description of 1972 Ford Torino

Let me start by saying I do not have much history on this rare Torino. as I received it as part of a debt settlement. I am a car person. however. so I can accurately describe the car. This Torino will be an easy restoration. as it is generally complete and runs out well. It is an original air conditioned car. but the a/c is not currently hooked up. Most of the a/c components go with the car. as shown in the photos. I speedometer shows 74. 58 miles. but I have no way of verifying actual mileage. After receiving the car. I did a thorough checkout. changed the oil. installed a battery and she fired right up. I did use an auxiliary gas tank. as I did not want to take a chance on bad fuel or debris coming from an old tank. The tank looks okay. nbsp;but I did not remove it or check it out. The 351 Cleveland engine sounds great. with no unusual noises. smoke or abnormal symptoms. The transmission shifts smoothly. the brakes work well and the power steering works as it should. The engine has obviously been worked on in the past as it has an Edelbrock aluminum 4 barrel manifold and carburetor. headers and newer 2" exhaust system. It sounds very healthy. The car is not rust or damage free. but it does not need floor or trunk pans. There are a few dollar size areas in the floor and trunk that need a patch. but the for the most part the metal is very solid. The only body rust I have found is a 6" strip on the bottom of the right rear quarter panel behind the rear wheel well. There is light body damage on the right and left rear quarter panels and the left front fender. but the metal is solid and can be repaired by a competent body person. The doors fit well. All of the glass is very good with the exception of the windshield. The bumpers are quite straight. but will need rechroming if the buyer is looking to make this into a high quality car. The front end. grill and scooped hood are beautiful. The paint is obviously weak. as shown in the photos. The seat upholstery is original and most will need replacing. but the foam and springs are good. The original deluxe seat belts and retractors are in place. The door panels can be restored with new arm rests and vinyl spray. The padded dash is cracked and the headliner will need replacing. The radio has been removed. Wheels are "old school" Crager mags. and the tires are decent and matching. Oregon does not salt its roads. so the underside. while not detailed. is quite decent with no heavy rust or rust pitting. This is a car. that with very little effort. can be a daily driver and will be an easy restoration for the new owner.
