Description of 1971 Ford F-100

'71 F100 Rat Rod short bed. This rat rod is one of a kind. There are way too many goodies in the suspension and under the hood to list. but I’ll share a few: · Suspension and Brakes o Completely new suspension. lowered about 3 inches o New wheel cylinders. drums. springs. king pins. tie rods. etc. Engine and Transmission o Rebuilt Ford 302 HO (originally from 96 T-bird) o Rebuilt heads with roller rockers o C4 tranny with B&M Megashifter. draglink o Serpentine belt conversion with one-wire 100amp alternator. new power steering pump. March pulleys o Hedman’s Hedders with brand new 3 inch exhaust and flowmasters o New Edelbroc 1406 carb with electric choke o Custom dual electric radiator fans o New custom radiator o Custom wiring with relays and fuel panel. HEI distributor. new high torque mini starter · Interior o New Sony MP3. WMA. CD deck with remote. Fosgate doors and tweets o Brand new seat. headliner. carpet with dynomat o Summit temp and oil pressure gauge podTires and wheels are new. NOS ford dogdish hubcaps. powder coated wheels. ’67 grill and headlight doors. The suspension is tight and aligned. This is a great running truck –its been my daily driver. The interior is beautiful. the pics don’t do it justice. Headliner. door panels. carpet. rocker covers. seat upholstery – all new and very clean. The body has very little rust. The driver’s floorpan has been repaired and there are a few spots of surface rust in the bed and just at the bottom of the cab in the usual spot (see pics). The undercarriage has been prepped and painted with rust inhibitor. There are a few dents and dings. especially in the driver’s door. but overall the body is straight. Wouldn't take much to get it prepped for paint. or if you love the oxidized rat rod look. keep it patina. Its definitely a head turner as it is! This thing runs and drives fantastically; it sounds evil. and with the speedshifter and c4 will burn the tires through 3rd. I've heard. :-o I drive it every day. Hate to see it go. but need to get something more practical for my kids to drive. Needs: The truck has a set of Summit gauges for water temp and oil pressure that work fine – but the stock gauges (fuel. alt. water temp) are not working. They need to be rewired with the custom relays. The 5 speed was removed for a c4 auto drag tranny conversion. There is a hole in the floor where the shifter was that is just covered with a piece of carpet. Also the installed pedal assembly is for a manual. you may want to change it to an auto pedal assembly. It doesn't effect the drive-ability to have a non-functional clutch pedal. (see interior pic) The windshield is cracked on the passenger side. There is a tiny pinhole leak in the header collector on the driver’s side. I don’t know if it was a flaw in the casting or a small crack when the exhaust was installed. It ticks a little where the exhaust leaks – not bad. has no effect on the way it runs but can be a bit annoying. I took it to a shop and they said it can be repaired by a good welder. or by replacing the headers. The fuel pump is LOUD. It operates perfectly. but is noisy. Summit racing says this is normal.
