Description of 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1

Read the details carefully.

I have a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 project car for sale. I bought this car in Atlanta, GA a year ago under the pretense that it was numbers matcher - which it turned out to be, and so much more.

The car is a 351 Cleveland 2V/FMX auto. On Mach 1s, this was a slightly rarer option than the 4V. Before it was disassembled for complete restoration, we were able to get the motor to run, and run strong before the carb flooded, as it was in dire need of a rebuild. I have video of the event for proof. As the disassembly portion of the restoration began, we began to realize just how original this car was. The factory toe tag was still attached to the carburetor, as well as the rear axle. The start motor, radiator, water pump, etc. were all original to the car. Everything that had a date code stamped into it matched. I have pictures to prove. It still has the original D code yellow paint on it from the factory. There is more evidence that I will share over the phone for those interested that nods toward this car only having the 29K miles showing on the odometer.

Let me start out by saying the car is rough. It is not for the weak of heart, or those with full time jobs. IT IS A PROJECT CAR IN NEED OF COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESTORATION, outside of what work has already been done, which is described below. The interior, while complete, needs to be overhauled - new carpet, dash pad and headliner, and the seats need to be recovered. The motor, however, does not need a complete rebuild, and for originality's sake, would be better off with a top-end rebuild only. It is missing the rear bumper (was rusted out when I got it), the windshield and the back glass. There are no keys.

That's the bad. Now, for the good - I do have quite a bit of good new or original sheet metal that comes with the car:

- Hood

- Original doors that are straight as a laser with only pin holes in the bottom

- New quarter panels, professionally installed

- New floors, professionally installed

- New trunk metal, professionally installed (sides, rear crossmember, brackets)

- New back panel, professionally installed

- New stone guard

- New fiberglass hood scoop

- Original rear spoiler

- All door glass and hardware

- All chrome trim original to the car, minus the rear bumper which was no good

To add to the good, here are some more details:

- Clear blue Texas title in my name

- The difficult metal work is done; the car is 98% rust-free at this point.

- Parts are packed in boxes accordingly, and sheet metal (save for some extra sheet metal we haven't used yet) is hung back on the car and the motor has been set back into the engine bay, meaning it is ready to ship with very little work -- just bring a trailer, or, if you're the winner of the auction, I will throw in the dovetail car hauler it is currently situated on for an additional price, which we can discuss upon sale.

Also, to add to this, let me reiterate that the car is almost entirely COMPLETE. Not in great shape, as the parts are 47 years old at this point, but just about everything IS there. Interior trim pieces and all. Almost every single nut and bolt, INCLUDING the original factory toe tags on the carburetor, transmission and rear axle.

If you're wondering why the price is what it is, consider how much I already have in it with new parts and purchase price, sheet metal installation, and the sale price of what such a Mach 1 would bring when complete. It is getting next to impossible to find a true numbers matching Mach 1 with such low original miles. It's hard to even find a completed one like this for sale for a comparison.

Make me an offer!
