Description of 1957 Ford Fairlane Skyliner |
| 1957 was a good year for cars as this frame-off restored 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner retractable hard top demonstrates. When introduced the Skyliner was the only true hardtop convertible in the world. The mechanism which folded and retracted the roof was also unique being powered entirely by electrics--no hydraulics. Another surprise--the mechanism was remarkably reliable! Jerry's Classic Cars in Springdale AR completed a thorough frame-off restoration of this beautiful two-tone blue Skyli...ner in April 2017. The car was solid to begin with yet was completely disassembled and made all new before being carefully reassembled. The body was alkaline dipped (non-corrosive to the metal body) then received an H stage e-coating electro deposited epoxy coating cured at 400 degrees at a tier one supplier to Nissan automotive factory (H stage has one additional stage than factory cars). The body was then prepared to perfection by Jerry's team block sanded and is laser straight with perfect two tone blue paint. All new chrome stainless and gold trim deluxe bumpers installed. New wire spoke wheels with new wide white wall tires.The entire drivetrain was refinished bearings and seals replaced engine rebuilt transmission rebuilt. New interior including seats headliner padded dash carpet glass and new instruments door handles window cranks radio and air conditioning. The steering box column and steering wheel have been reconditioned. Just shy of a thousand hours by a long-time professional crew focused only on Fords of this era was invested to elevate this car to the pinnacle of quality.
