Description of 1931 Ford Model A Victoria Leatherback

1931Ford MotorCompany

Model A Victoria

"Leatherback"

190-A

PROVENANCE

Estate sale of a lifelong Pennsylvania Model A purchased in 1971 from original owner in Wallingford, PA who used Vicky mostly off-road as a farm field vehicle from 1939-1971(Very Classy!). It went through a total, ground-up restoration from `71-`77 by a professional upholsterer, master craftsman & avid collector of Telford, PA performing the ENTIRE restoration by himself! Hard work & utmost attention to detail paid off when this magnificent Vicky Leatherback was awarded AACA National First Prize Winner in 1980 among numerous other awards outlined below.

She was retired c. 2000 being used occasionally for weddings & always covered & stored in an environmentally controlled facility w/ regular maintenance, hence her amazing, time-warp condition, not deviating too much from its #1 resto some 40 years ago (see pics for comparison). Engine number on bill of sale matches present engine number. Original Bill of Sale, many more pics, substantiating documentation & tools will be supplied to buyer.

~CONDITION~

NOTE:Vicky was uncovered, prepped for starting w/ a little wiping - that's it. No detailing or touch-ups. Museum-like storage has preserved her incredibly well!

EXTERIOR:MURRAY BODY NUMBER M190A S18707PA exhibits a professional, Show-Quality Black & Brewster Green paint scheme that still maintains its high luster showing minor chips, a few paint cracks & minute blisters that I've attempted to show in pics. All solid, filler-free, original metal & has correct leather hood corners. Apple Green Spoke Wheels & pinstripes are in Show condition. No visible pitting etc. on chrome, brightwork. All glass/lenses are VG/Show. Left front Firestone 4.75x19 tire has sidewall cracking & spare has bubble, otherwise all have no discernable wear & no visible flaws on sides or between treads that are 100%, however they are most likely over 15 years old. Top is in Show/Excellent condition needing only a cleaning particularly around ribbing. It is snug & even throughout w/ no bubbling, tears or seam loss.

INTERIOR:Brown mohair interior is in Show/Excellent condition w/ absolutely little to no detectable wear or dry rot on seats, headliner, door panels or carpeting. Slight weathering on door wood. All fixtures are in Show/Excellent condition as is dash & instrumentation. Has rear shade & somewhat rare & very desirable sun visors.

ENGINE/DRIVELINE: Engine bay is clean showing storage dust, some paint peeling & surface rust. A4320703 was a February 1931 build & is the original engine. No leaks or drips were observed & belts, hoses wiring are in VG mechanical condition although due to age, replacement is advisable.New battery & gas.

UNDERCARRIAGE: Very Good overall & in near #2 Show condition. Some paint peeling & minor road use/spray is evident. Exhaust is in Good condition showing surface rust all-over. Lines, wiring, floors all in Good/VG condition.

MECHANICAL/ROAD TEST: Vicky was professionally prepped by a mechanic before being re-started after a long rest. With a New battery & gas she fires up & idles quietly & smoothly as seen in videos. Drives w/ no issues & all systems functioning.

RESTORATIVE WORK/MODIFICATIONS:Restored to exact, ORIGINAL specs resulting in the most coveted validation - AACA National 1st Prize. No modifications, completely correct & stock configuration w/ ALL ancillary parts & can be shown in anywhere- Preservation Class or otherwise.

SUMMARY

A vehicle fulfilling all the attributes of a #3++ vehicle w/ potential of moving into a low #2 category w/ some minor paint touch-ups & a total professional detailing - undercarriage in particular.
