Description of 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria - Gasser (Nostalgic California)

1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria Gasser!
1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria Two Door Hardtop
Old School Nostalgic Southern California GASSER
429 Cobra Jet Big Block

You are viewing a privately owned 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria Two Door Hardtop Gasser!
Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this piece of history.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner who found this gasser sitting in a garage in Southern California about 5 years ago.
(Purchased from the wife of the gentlemen that built this Gasser in 1968.) That is what makes this vehicle so special.
It was made into a "Gasser" back in 60's in the Southern California area. This is the birth place of this type of vehicle.
On top of that, the vehicle's dash was pinstripped by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Ed Roth was a very well known pinstripper/painter/artist and the creator of
the Hot Rod character "Rat Fink". I'm sure this nostalgic gasser has a interesting history. (Only if it could talk.)
This year the current owner spent a lot of time and money going over the mechanics and rebuilding the entire driveline.
We will try to describe and go over most of the car, please read and view all of the 97 pictures listed below.
Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO.
That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction.
Bid with confidence!

1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria Gasser - Description
Body / Paint: Don't let the faded paint and aging patina fool you. The owner just went over and had all the mechanical systems professionally rebuilt. The vehicle still retains all its history and nostalgia, but runs and performs like it did when it was first created in 1968 in Southern California. It's not that often you see a "Gasser" build from a two door hardtop Victoria. Being the vehicle spent most of its life in Southern California, it is very solid and still retains all its original sheet metal. (Body and floor pans.) The original creators installed a tilting fiberglass front clip along with removing the front bumper. The red paint is now faded and weathered which adds to the look of the vintage gasser. It still retains most of the original stainless steel trim and emblems from 1956. It always draws a crowd when the owner takes it out. Keep in mind, when this was originally built, it was built to race and not to show. Most of the stuff is very basic.
Interior: The interior in nothing fancy. The black and white vinyl seats and door panels are in nice shape with no rips, holes, or marks. The rear seat is still in the vehicle and is in nice condition also. The headliner looks original with no holes or rips. Most of the stock gauges/speedometer were removed. There is a tachometer on the steering column and three other gauges mounted under the dash. At one time the vehicle had a roll bar installed. The mounting brackets can still be seen behind the front seat. (See photo #75) It would be very easy to reinstall a roll bar if someone wants. The artwork and pinstripping on the dash is very special. It was done by the very well known Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Ed was right in the middle of everything going on in Southern California in the 50's and 60's with the "Hot Rod" scene. He is also the creator of the Hot Rod character "Rat Fink". He signed the dash "ROTH". It's very rare to still see a car that has his artwork on it.
Glass: All of the glass pieces look original and are in nice shape. The passenger side window is cracked. All the windows roll up and down without any problems or issues. Wheels / Tires: The car has four new tires. The front are Goodyear VIVA 2 radial tires with a size of 205/75R14. The rear are Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S (Street/Strip) with a size of 235/60R15. Again, all four are new and in excellent condition. These tires are mounted on vintage aluminum wheels.
Mechanically: Under the hood sits a 429 Cu. In. "Corba Jet" engine. We believe it has a 1970 casting date. Remember, the whole drive train was recently and professionally rebuilt. This power plant was balanced and blueprinted. It comes along with a "Engine Data Sheet" listing all the exact component measurements and clearances for everything that went into the build. In order to save weight, the cast iron cylinder heads were replaced with new aluminum "d0ve" close chamber heads. The engine builder specializes in racing engines. (Cost of engine build: $10,230) The owner has all the receipts and paperwork on all the work done. Currently, the engine has around 300 "break-in" miles. It was "Used not Abused." It is ready to go with no problems or issues. With a 10.5:1 compression, it runs on 93 octane pump fuel, but prefers racing fuel. Feeding this beast is a Holley 700 carburetor. Everything is adjusted and dialed in for peak performance. Ready to have fun with. The 3 gear reduction high torque starter is new along with the 900CC battery. Keeping this car running cool is a new 4 core radiator with an electric auxiliary fan. The vehicle is setup to be driven on both the street and the track.
Bolted to Cobra Jet engine is a C6 automatic transmission. This transmission was also rebuilt and beefed up using a heavy duty service pack along with a Hughes 2500 stall torque converter. (Cost of transmission build: $1,050) Putting the power to the ground is the factory 10 bolt Dana posi rear end with a 3.55:1 ratio. This rear end was also rebuilt with only the best gears and components including harden axles. (Cost of rear end build: $3,500)
Brake system: This is easy. Everything is new!. You name it, it's new. Cylinders, brake lines, springs, hoses, seals, fittings, drums, shoes, bearings, bearing caps, etc... There are no problems with these new brakes. It also received new fuel lines, fuel filter, and fuel pump. The car is equipped with Hedman Headers with cutout dump pipes out both sides. The suspension is all "Gasser". Ladder bars in the rear with a vintage chromed "Ford" front axle in the front. (They sure loved their chrome back in the 60's) The suspension has been gone over and is tight with new bushings and hardware. New Pro Comp shocks are on all four corners.

You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner who has owned this classic for 5 years
and who personally found this vintage gasser in Southern California.
The odometer is not connected and does mean much with this type of vehicle. That being said, some paperwork indicate that the vehicle
would have less then 57,000 miles on it. There are about 300 "used not abused" miles on the new drive train since it was rebuilt.
The vehicle has a free and clear Ohio title that is ready to be signed and notarized.
If the "Reserve Price" is not met, We will contact the highest bidder FIRST to see if we can negotiate a price.
