If you like the idea of having an old hauler around for fun and maybe a few projects on the side. this Ford is a really good choice. When you think of an old Ford pickup. in your imagination it's either hunter green or bright red. and this one has a great old-time look that is instantly identifiable. With just 640 miles on the build. it's in good order. although it's not perfect and a dedicated hobbyist could nail down the last 5% and have something truly spectacular. The red paint is nicely done and has an awesome shine. and with a wet sand and buff it would be a showstopper anywhere you go. Panel fit is quite good. with the hood and doors fitting properly and nice running boards that don't look like they've been rusty or beaten up over the past six decades. Chrome trim. such as the V8 emblem on the hose and the vent in the nose of the hood. looks great. while a tidy rear roll pan finishes off the bed area quite nicely. Oak planks in the bed look great and have a slightly rustic look that works well. and the oak is tough enough that you won't have to worry about actually hauling stuff back there. The red bench seat is a jaunty change of pace from all the black interiors you see in trucks and defines this truck perfectly: it's fun and not at all serious. The original seat frame is underneath and tilts forward for a little access in back. Rubber floor coverings with heavy-duty mats mean that you don't have to worry about dirt and the steel door panels were obviously painted along with the rest of the body for a consistent look. A custom aluminum panel holds new VDO gauges that have the right vintage look and keep an eye on the warmed-over flathead up front. Turn signals were added for safety. because even in 1951 they weren't standard equipment in pickup trucks. and neither was a radio or heater. However. you do get a perfect place for a modern radio if that's your intention and the original dash remains intact so it retains that classic look. The 239 cubic inch flathead V8 is a delight to drive. always ready to go with a great V8 sound that's entirely different from everything else on the road. A dual carb intake provides a nice boost in horsepower as well as a period performance look. A 12-volt alternator ensures reliability and an electric fuel pump makes a big difference during cold starts on the typically cold-blooded flathead. It's backed by a 3-speed manual gearbox and the original rear end. so it's happy cruising at 55 MPH. the twin glasspack-style mufflers burbling away behind you. It's quite clean underneath and the simplicity is a refreshing change. perfect for the guy who just wants an old pickup without the hassles. Shiny chrome wheels aren't authentic but they look great against the red paint. especially with fat 235/60/15 front and 295/50/15 rear BFGoodrich radials. An affordable truck with lots of recent work that can be enjoyed as-is or really polished up and finished by a guy with a little spare time. Either way. we know you'll fall in love with this neat flathead pickup.
