Description of 1950 Ford Other

Up for auction is the very nice practically all original Ford 2 door 'Shoebox'. The paint is not original. repainted about 1985 and been stored in a garage since 1990. This car has the original #s matching body & engine(a flathead v-8. 239. 100HP). This car starts instantly every time. And it runs very good. It has the 3 on the tree manual transmission and shifts smoothly with no clutch chatter at take-off. The clutch is good and it gets up to highway speed easily and keeps right up with traffic. The car has good 'get up & go'. It is pretty snappy. It has the original interior which is in nice shape with the exception of the tear in the back of the back seat. (see pic)The headliner is good with no tears or holes. The floors have the original rubber mats that are respectable too. The trunk is solid. even under the spare tire. It looks nice. clean and tidy. (see pics) The brakes have been gone through (new master cylinder and some new lines installed) and work well. The gas tank has been taken off & refurbished. new float on gas sending unity. The carb has been gone through also. This engine runs like a 'champ'. The glass is all good. windows all roll up & down good. There is a slight spider crack on the edge of the driver's windshield & it not very noticable. The gauges all work - gas. oil pressure. amperes & heat. The horn blows nicely. Even the heater fan blows. Taillights and blinkers on the back work however the front blinkers need fixing. The headlights work on both high and low beam. The brake light plug needs cleaning. THe tires have good tread. hold air good. ride OK but are 35 yrs old. Installed a new mechanical fuel pump. Cleaned all the gunk out of the oild canister. gave it a fresh oil change. The anit-freeze is good to -10 below. I've heard these cars were the early "hot rods". very desirable and RARE! Especially in this original shape. What is needs is: brake light plug cleaned & front blinkers fixed. One piece of chrome on the grill could be replaced and the tear fixed in the back of the back seat. In the pics the engine looks wet on the drivers side head. but that is just from me cleaning the oil canister. The car does not leak oil. anti-freeze or gas. The garage floor is nice & clean & dry under the car. In review: this is a very nice original condition solid body with no signs of rust or bondo or patches. It runs good and has smooth idling. It starts easy & is dependable. This is a very rare and desirable car that is fun to drive and is the 'shoebox' model. It always gets the 'thumb up' attention when driving. It also has the windshield visor and adds to the look of the car. Please email for phone number to discuss the details of this car in advance of the end of the auction.
