Description of 1968 Ford Mustang --

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this thoughtfully modified, strong-running example of the 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe for your consideration. Believed to be on its third owner, the original being from Phoenix, AZ, this vehicle had an engine rebuild which kept this sharp models powerful 302 V8 under the hood but now mated to a stiff but smooth shifting 5-speed manual transmission to give it an easier job of keeping up high speed cruises. The engine is believed to... be original to the car with late model headers added to it, the camshaft has been replaced with a more modern touch, the dual exhaust that it features sounds great and overall the mechanicals and drivability cannot be overstated. The exterior is of driver quality and hosts a great new set of wheels and tires. The interior is absolutely beautiful as it holds a lot of the original look to it but clearly with all new material spread throughout including beautifully done leather door panels, a very original-looking dash, fresh carpet, new steering wheel, air conditioning and headliner. This is a great find for those who love to drive their classics opposed to look at them but could easily be turned into a real showpiece with a little time and money. Coming into its first refresh since the first one released, Dearborn's pony car made a change for 1967 primarily to make more room up front for its newest and best engine offered yet, the big-block V8. The 289 V8 was no longer the most powerful choice for the Mustang but was still offered alongside the newest edition, the 390-cid FE-series big-block. This engine was told to push 320 horsepower and with the 428 V8 on its way for the 1967 as well, the Mustang had locked down the muscle car market. In 1968 the transmission could be either the manual or the automatic but no longer would there be a distinction between them like they used to with the "GTA" for automatic or "GT" for manual. The first generation continued until 1973 and to this day that first generation is still one of the most sought after by collectors and car enthusiasts alike.
