Description of 1972 Ford F-250

Hi! I have my classic survivor 1972 F250 2wd pickup truck up for auction. It is in good condition for it's age, ESPECIALLY THE BODY AND MOTOR. It has a strong V8 that runs beautifully. I do not know the mileage, but you can tell by driving it that the motor is in excellent shape. Like all old Fords, it's a little cold-blooded in the morning, but just a minute or two of warming up is all it needs (and with some knowledgeable tinkering, it most likely could be improved).
The battery was purchased brand new less than a year ago, and it never fails to start right up.
The fuel system works as it should. It has dual tanks with a switch, but like most of the time with these, who knows when the aux tank was used last. So I've just kept it on the main tank and it's worked great. ALSO, it looks as if the fuel tank is fairly new, as you can see in the photo.

Transmission shifts OK...a little sluggish when cold, but then normalizes when it warms up after a few minutes. Reverse works no problem, but seems a bit sluggish (you need to give it a little extra gas to get it going for some reason). If I were to keep it, I'd probably be looking for a little later-model tranny to put into it. But again, it does fine and doesn't leak fluid at all.
All the lights (blinkers, headlights, and interior) work. The windshield wipers, heat, and fan motor work great as well. As you can see from the picture, the radio has been removed.

It drives about as nicely as you can expect a non-restored 1972 truck to drive...alignment, steering, braking, suspension, etc are all in great shape. It's really solid moving down the freeway. The front tires are in EXCELLENT shape (80% + at least), and the back tires are good (probably 50%+). Both front and back have even wear. It tows really nice as well.
The interior is decent for it's age. There is a nice vinyl cover over the original seat, and the seatbelts are all present and in good shape. It has newer black door panels as well, that contrast nicely with the yellow paint. The dash is so-so. Not great, but definitely not horrible either...again, about what you'd expect from an un-restored truck of this vintage.
The body is very straight with virtually no rust...just a little bit on the front floorboards, and NONE at all around the wheel wells or the bed where you would normally find it (I've posted a picture of each wheel well so you can really see how clean they are). It's been a west-coast car and has not been exposed to all the stuff that accelerates rust in other parts of the country. Again, for a truck that has had consistent use it's whole life, you really couldn't ask for anything more when it comes to that extremely important issue.

The tailgate is straight and works nicely. The back bumper is great, the front bumper probably could use replacing (it's solid, just dinged up). The grille is also not great, but not horrible either.
All the glass is in fantastic shape, including the windshield which is chip-free and crack-free. Both windows roll up and down without any issues.

Of course, it's an un-restored truck from 1972, so it's going to have a few quirks! Among them:
*The previous owner tried her hand at painting it, and actually did a fairly decent job for her first try! It's not professional by any means, but it still looks good, especially at first glance...the color of yellow she used is eye-catching without being annoying, and fits the vintage very well. As you can see in the picture, she painted the body and interior doors, but did not paint the interior and dash (still the original white color, which doesn't even look bad).

*Also, someone over the years found it necessary to move the gear selector from the column to the floor. The tranny still works great, it just takes a little getting used to the unmarked gear selector on the floor. If I were keeping it, I'd probably do the work to either a) get it back to the normal column shifter, or b) convert it to a manual. But again, it still functions as it should, so it poses no problems whatsoever.
*It has a push-button ignition, which I've actually grown to like. Just put the key in the on position, push the button, and it fires right up without fail.

*The speedometer and gas gauge are not currently working (most likely an easy fix), but the temperature gauge works perfectly.

*Also it's loud, so the exhaust needs a little work...but again, nothing horrible or out of the ordinary for an old truck.
Other than those minor things though, everything really does work pretty much like it should...we have done a lot of hauling with it over the past couple weeks and it's done GREAT. If you put even just a few hours of work into it, it would be even better. And with the body being straight and so rust-free, it's a great candidate for being a running/driving restoration.
I've tried to be as thorough as possible in my description, but feel free to ask any questions, and of course, please examine the pictures very carefully...I've posted several high-quality photos which will tell you all you need to know about the aesthetic condition.

It has a reconstructed Oregon title signed over and ready to go, and has good Oregon plates (the cool vintage kind with the permanent month), and tags good all the way through October of 2018.
