Description of 1970 Ford F-250

For sale is a beautiful 1970 Ford F-250 Ranger Camper Special. Factory black on black, 390 V-8, C6 automatic, 2 wheel drive. 67,200 original miles. Quite fun to drive, very comfortable, almost drives like a car. Was sold new in Spokane, remained around Spokane, spent some years in Rathdrum Idaho, and in Rose Lake Idaho where I found it. 99.9% rust free. Believe I am the third owner, previous two were a tad elderly in their 70's when they sold it. Was a true camper pickup most of it's life, came with a 1970 full size camper when I bought it (11'?), and when the prior owner bought it. I doubt it came off and went on more then a few times since the bed is so straight. At one point a jack was bent, and one was ripped off so the camper was easier to leave on. I repaired the jack issue, got the camper off, and the camper is still used to this day.

Exterior is very straight, clean and complete. No bodywork or damage anywhere. Patina is nice on the hood, and under both door windows, above the trim. With some light sanding and clear coat these areas would look as good as the rest of the truck. The camper covered a lot of the truck, protecting it well, though the sun got to the hood and a little of the doors. All the black you see is in amazing shape for the age. All the trim is there, with minor dings on some pieces. The tailgate is the only body piece that didn't come with the pickup, remained with the original owner apparently. Same year and close to same color/finish. Solid floors, cab corners, all the metal is there. The only rot is where the auxilary battery was on the front of the left fender liner, thanks to a leaky battery.

Interior is very nice as well. Seat is near perfect, not a stitch out of place. A tiny tare on the drivers edge from normal wear. Dash looks great, door panels mint, armrests uncracked, glass all intact, no cracks, windows roll up/down, even the seals on the wing windows are nice, door seals too. All the gauges light and work inside and out, cb radio if you want to talk to truckers hence the two antennaes on the front of the pickup, wipers, wiper washers, headlights high/low, horn, heater/fan/defrost, odometer function as they should. Stock radio doesn't work at the moment. Comes witht two sets of original keys, same door locks/ignition, owners manual. Floor is clean, headliner fully intact. Doors open/close very easily, like they did from the factory.

Drive train is smooth, yet powerful. The 390 fires right up, doesn't smoke, purrs like a kitten. Has all new spark plugs, cap, rotor, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line, 2 barrel carburator, tank behind the seat, tank cap, and rubber around it. Tank under bed is probably not usable. Recent oil change, appears the engine was resealed at some point. Tranny shifts well threw all gears, so smooth you hardly even notice it. Rear end seems just fine, suspension feels good, hardly even raised the ass end when the camper came off- maybe an inch or two. New brakes, discs in front. Don't think this pulled anything besides a small fishing boat, but could easily haul a lot more. Power steering, power brakes, e-brake works well. Matching all season tires have less then 3000 miles on them. Factory wheels and hubcaps in pretty good shape.

Overall a very nice, well looked after, undickered 48 year old pickup that could probably drive cross country today. This one is very close to being there, and would be one heck of a base for an easy custom job. Or drive it just how it is. I'm confident that in the right hands it'll be around another 48 years.
