Description of 1961 Ford Thunderbird Custom

Take a look at the pictures of this slammed on the ground T-Bird! It has a custom double air compressor and custom painted flamed Air tank nicely displayed in the trunk with custom stereo equipment. Control switches are nicely hidden in the center console ashtray.

I bought the car several years ago from the second owner who did a great job of making into a custom with the ability to preserve it back to original if so desired. 390 Engine matching numbers Automatic Transmission. The original owners for over 50+ years had babied and pampered the car. It supposedly has less than 42,000 original Miles on the car. From the looks of the under carriage I believe it is true. I cannot find a single spot of rust anywhere on the vehicle. Also the Chrome on the car is amazingly good condition for its age! All the glass is in exceptional condition! Doors open and close really nice. Engine compartment is very clean for a car that is 57 years old. The following has been done: engine resealing oil pan, front timing cover and valve covers, new water pump, rebuild original carburetor, plug wires and all tune up parts. New Battery, The braking system works great! Rebuilt power brake booster, new master cylinder, new brake hoses, wheel cylinders and brake shoes, New radiator and hoses, The upper and lower ball joints were replaced, outer and inner tie rods replaced, sway bar links replaced, rebuilt steering pump and steering box, Transmission was been serviced and resealed.

The interior is in really nice condition. Everything seems to be working: Slide away steering column, AC was serviced by ASC certified mechanic and blows ICE COLD, Wipers work, Low and high beam headlights work, new headlight switch, turn signals work, brake lights work, parking brake alarm light works, dash lights work, gauges all work except for the clock. Power drivers seat works, New door panels, new front seat covers, new dash pad, new carpet, new headliner, new Seat belts, Custom Kenwood Stereo with remote control. (Stereo is mounted under the driver's seat) Mega watt amplifiers and Pioneer 12" custom speaker setup in the trunk and 6”x 9”speakers in package tray.

Note: The car is a driver quality car with blemishes in the paint as expected from paint work more than 30-40 years ago. (Not a show car) The windshield cowl has been repainted and is slightly off. (May just be sun fade) The whole car could use color sanding and polishing of the paint.

Car comes with an additional set of moon disc hubcaps, Fender skirts, new inner outer door weather strips, paint seal, replacement rear license plate lamps, extra wiper arms, new door seals, new tri-bar jeweled head light covers, misc seal kits.

In my opinion there are a few mechanical repairs that need don, I believe that the driver's side motor mount or transmission mount needs to be replaced. It makes a clunking sound when you first put it in reverse. (It drives fine in forward and reverse) Also the steering box now seems to have a leak. I would replace the driver's side front airbag as it shows wear from rubbing against the inside of the tire during sharp turns. If it was me I would move the location of the airbag closer in to the frame and solve that issue in the future. lastly, I removed the 50 amp fuses from the custom stereo system as it made frequency noise because of feedback from the generator? I did some research at the time and there is a proper way to run the wiring so that it does not have the feedback noise.

I am only selling this car due to illness and therefore will not be performing any of the repairs. I have done my best to include an honest description of the car and priced it accordingly knowing that work needs to be done to the car.
