Description of 1989 Ford Taurus

3.0L V6 with 5 speed manual trans. Fully loaded, but without sunroof and keyless entry.

Second generation factory SHO directional wheels with new tires ( I have the original wheels and tires, if you prefer) I have owned the car for over 8 years with the intention of restoring it, but it has just not made it to the top of the vehicle priority list. Interior, carpeting and vinyl seats are in great shape. Both front seats are powered. It's still a blast to drive, very solid and settled and I have enjoyed the car as it is. It has spent alot of its life in storage, being driven in summer months here in Michigan, or as in Colorado, kept away from salt and other corrosives. In the 8 or so years i've owned it, I have put 18,000 miles on it. For several summers it was my main driver. When I pulled it out of storage most recently, I chased a few items out that were marginal, replacing the turn signal stalk witha new NOS assy, a new NOS digital climate control head, a new NOS ignition switch, and a new temperature sensor. It is nice that for a 30 year old car that most everything is still easily obtainable, often NOS, and very affordable. For the foreseeablefuture this will be an easy vehicle to keep up with, if you decide to make it a driver. I have had 5 of these SHOs and still have the one i bought new in 1989. They are practical, economical cars, with respectable performance that are fun to drive for those who enjoy the driving experience of a manual transmission.
Car starts, runs, idles smooth, drives fine with no issues. Needs an A/C compressor. I put a used compressor in about 5 years ago and while it worked fine for a couple of years, it seized up before I put the car back into storage. It needs some attention to a few details, (factory radio turns on and appears fine, but produces no sound. A previous owner added the rear spoiler, which appears to be off of an 80's trans am or something, and was not an original offering with the car.
The car runs well, is pleasing to the eye and very peppy to drive and would make a very easy restoration project, as it only needs a quality paint job and a little detailing under the hood to be an excellent car. The vehicle is originally from Colorado and has nearly no rust anywhere, although the paint is faded in places with the clearcoat coming off. It has been touched up/repained along the leading edge of the hood, but the rearward parts of the hood have fading paint and peeling clearcoat, as does the roof and trunk lid, visible in the photos. The front bumper fascia looks like it struck some tire shrapnel on the highway, but appears reworkable and should paint up fine, without replacement.
I have some other extras, if you're an enthusiast familiar with the car, like a rod shifter that i never installed, SHO Plus composite hood and miscellaneous items (I've had 5 of these cars over the years). These extras are not included in the price listed.
