Description of 1977 Ford F-250 Custom

1977 FORD F-250 4X4 460ci big block (D1VE) rebuilt/installed about 3 years ago. Built for low-rpm torque and man is it a beast! High lift/short duration/low LSA cam. 600 cfm Edelbrock 650 carb / Edelbrock performer intake. stock exhaust manifolds. dual exhaust into 2 chamber Flowmasters. Passed Colorado emissions with flying colors (way below limits) this past summer when the previous owner took it in. Paperwork from this is available. NP-435 4-spd. . Dana 44/60 w 4. 10 gearing. disc brakes (Front Pads. rotors. and calipers are all brand new with premium quality parts). power steering. NO RUST ALL METAL BODYNew professional 2-stage paint job in the original FORD “Bright Red” (October 2014). Front and rear glass were removed prior. New windshield and rear slider (with new gaskets) installed after paint. New door weather-stripping. cowl seal. tailgate bumpers and diamond plate bedrails were also installed at this time. Complete set of upper body-side moldings (with hardware and in good condition). will be included with sale. All that kind of stuff tends to trap mud/crap and cause rust. so it was not re-installed. Per the VIN code. this is a late model year “Low Boy”. which means it got myriad upgrades. but lost that stout “High Boy” suspension (and the primitive open knuckle front axle). So. to compensate for the feeble front springs. a 2” front suspension lift (add-a-leaf) and new Rancho 5000 shocks were installed several months ago. IMO. it now has the perfect stance and footprint. This also helps the truck to not lean when cornering. The alignment is good and the truck tracks straight - doesn't pull to either side. Brand new BF Goodrich 295/75R16 (33. 4” tall x 11. 6” wide) All-Terrains (about 2500 miles on them). Mounted spare included. With the 4. 10 gearing. the taller tires make it more freeway friendly. Will run 75 all day long. comfortably. but is still a mean stump-puller in in that granny low gear. New 38 gallon single rear tank. This is just simpler. and it improves rear wheel traction in snow. Bed was removed for painting and the frame was sandblasted and coated with Chassis Saver (like POR15). installed the new fuel tank / sending unit and re-routed the dual exhaust around the bigger tank. Good original interior (new door panels) with great sounding CD/MP3/Bluetooth Pioneer received. Also has all brand new high end Sony speakers (5 1/4 in door and 6x9 behind seat). Dash has 3 small cracks in it. but no swelling. No rips in seat. clean headliner/visors and all gauges/flashers are working. Doors could use new window felt but cranks and wind-wings are all working. Carpet is not badly worn – no holes etc. E-brake is fully functional with brand new cables. Dome light. heater and fan controls all work. I didn't even get around to cleaning the interior before taking pics. Starts every time without hesitation (new Interstate battery last year. as I recall). Runs and drives smooth. shifts effortlessly. No weird noises and the truck does not have the rattles like many other trucks of its age do. Anyone driving the truck would be surprised at how tight the suspension is. Everything works (hi/lo beams. flashers. marker lights. horn. heater. wipers. brake and back-up lights) . No issues whatsoever. Some new parts installed in the last couple months:-HEI Style distributor-Spark plugs and Ford Racing wires-Electric cooling fan (this improves warm up time and keeps the engine temperature more consistent-New high output heater core and heater fan motor-Front brake rotors/pads/calipers (all severe duty parts were used)-Parking brake cable-Door panels-Various rubber components (firewall/floor boots. pedal pads. bumpers. etc)-Under body and chassis rust proofing professionally done by Auto Armor in Marquette. MIDisclaimer: Please keep in mind that this is a 38 year old truck. It’s rust-free. very straight. and I get compliments on it almost everywhere I go. but it is not perfect. IMO. ALL cars look better in photos. I’ve tried to photograph from various angles. but bear in mind there are small dents and imperfections that may not show in the photos. There is also a slight amount of oil on the bottom of the engine that appears to be leaking from the front timing cover. This is pretty typical and I probably make it sound worse than it actually is. That being said. it’s a very respectable driver. built to WORK. and will probably need nothing for years to come. The pictures shown were taken in December in Colorado. Vehicle history: Per VIN code. it was assembled at the San Jose. CA. plant. I am the 3rd owner. Per P. O. . truck was in central CA until 2001. then Cheyenne. Wyoming. Fort Collins. Colorado. and just recently Marquette. Michigan. It is original (color. transmission. axles etc. ). with the exception of the bigger/badder motor. Enjoy the photos below!
