Description of 1970 Ford Torino

  • I am relisting my 1970 Ford Torino Station Wagon due to eBay's decision to remove it. After my listing had already ran for almost three days it was removed citing I had broken eBay policy. According to eBay some of the language used in the description was outside of policy. I'm still unsure what language eBay is referring to, and I hope everyone that had interest in this wonderful station wagon will accept my apology for this inconvenience. There was quite a number of bidders, watchers, and as many inquiries expressing interest. Again, my sincere apologies. Thank you.

  • I have decided to sell my 1970 Torino Station Wagon because I am buying another 1950's-1960's Shop / Service Truck, I am building a small shop, that will no doubt double as sort of a Hot Rod hang out, and also I want to finish my Roadster before I'm to old to drive. I know most of us, including myself, wonder why a wonderful car like this is put up for sale if its so wonderful, so I am always straight up with folks, and that's the reasons I must reluctantly sell the wagon. I really do hate to part with it, some lucky soul is going to be pleasantly surprised at how great a vehicle this is. Again, please with any questions about the condition or if you need additional pics sent @470-446-4248 or email with any questions after you read the listing. Also I have over 100 additional photos of the wagon I'm happy to send, for some reason I can't get anymore pictures to load here in the description/ add photos format. I can also take additional pictures of any part of the wagon you might be interested in please just let me know!

  • I searched for almost three years for a 1970/71 Torino Station Wagon, and it is the most difficult classic, vintage or rare vehicle I have ever looked for to buy. If your lucky enough to find one usually your faced with major rust issues, like many classics. The aftermarket has just recently began to realize that the Torino for 1970/71 are very unique beautifully designed cars that have a growing loyal following. I've owned this one for about a year, finding a wagon with most of its original paint is extremely rare, especially in such well maintained and kept condition as this 1970 example. This wagon is the perfect driver, swap meet vehicle, vintage Dragster / Bonneville push vehicle, (just add bumper guards). It is a fun vehicle to drive to shows, cruises or a daily driver! To my surprise when I first bought this wagon lots of folks just didn't know Ford made a Torino wagon in 1970/71, so the lucky winner will meet lots of people, and the wagon will get photographed more than will ever imagine. it is the most fun classic vehicle Ive owned, and I am sure I will regret selling it. So if you are the lucky person who purchases the wagon, you will be pleasantly surprised just how nice and well kept this one is. matter of fact if this wagon is not everything I say it is and more, you want be responsible to go thru with the transaction.
The wagon still wears most of it's original Morning Gold paint, and also the Ginger interior, and except for two very small mishaps, missing the garage door and scraping the drivers side front fender, and an older repair on the passenger front fender where someone tried to blend in to match the original paint, and it didn't work to well, where a parking lot fender bender happened very early on according to good friend of mine that does finishing at a well known custom shop about an hour from here. my plan was to replicate a 3D illustration that you can see on the net that a fellow in Germany rendered a few years ago. When my elderly mother became ill, and sadly she only got worse until she passed after almost 9 months suffering from Alzheimer's, I just didn't have time to be involved with the classics or hot rods that I had last year, and its also made me realize how less is truly more. So the reasons above along with just life in general, and finishing a roadster is a must, so the wagon has to go as I stated. If your into something different, don't worry about everybody having a Torino or Torino Station Wagon at any events you attend, even the largest shows, cruises or swap meets across the country wit will be the only one!!! This Torino Wagon came equipped with Fords best modern V-8, with the lower output, (but more than any competitors at the time), the 250 horsepower 351 Cleveland. The 250 Horsepower came from the Factory with a 2bbl carb., however one of the previous owners tastefully upgraded this one to a 4bbl, using the best of the best components, while retaining a very clean, neat, original look under the hood. It runs beautifully. The wagon has Factory Air Conditioning that's been upgraded to R-134, compressor rebuild, and is VERY COLD...(Note: I took the wagon on a 300 plus mile trip a few weeks ago to pick up some old Ford stuff I purchased, and on the way back I noticed the Air Conditioner Compressor seemed to make more noise than usual, so if something goes sideways with the AC, I assure you whatever the issue is, if it has one, will be addressed, repaired with whatever is needed, before a new owner gets the wagon.Moving on...the Ford C - 4 automatic transmission has recently had a fresh professional rebuild, due to the reverse band issue, and when the transmission shop owner pulled the trans out, and torn down, he called.....I expected the worse, However, he just wanted to tell me it was the cleanest original transmission he had ever seen, or torn apart and according to him, he was pretty sure it was original and that the transmission had never been out or rebuilt prior to this time. I mention this because the longtime original owner took extremely great care of the Torino from what I gather. The differential seems to be the 2:78 (not sure), whatever the ratio is, it's an incredible highway gear! The vehicle moves on down the highway at whatever speed you want to run, without any strain on the engine. The Torino also came equipped with Power Disc Brakes, (four piston Kelsey Hayes type), and power steering that drives fantastic and has NO leaks! Matter of fact there are NO LEAKS anywhere from anything, and the 351 Cleveland uses absolutely NO OIL.... (that's not a typo).... it has never used one drop of oil, and I am not exaggerating about anything on the condition or what I'm telling you about this wagon, or anything I have for sell, I just don't bulls&@# folks. Iam NOT a dealer, I have been a hobbyist for 40 years, selling on eBay since 1998. So, bid or buy with the utmost confidence, I'm convinced you'll be pleasantly surprised with this wagon, if it's not exactly what I say it is, you won't be held responsible to go thru with the transaction, and will refund your deposit, with no questions asked. I almost forgot some important info here..... So let me continue..... The windshield is the only glass that's been replaced, every other piece of glass is still theall original, FoMoCo green TINTED glass, and it's in beautiful condition. Tinted glass came as part of the Factory Air Conditioning package on Ford wagons, and most of the cars. This wagon has had a lot of money spent on the mechanics to make it a dependable driver that can be driven anywhere at highway speeds in comfort. I included pics of a stack of parts invoices that came with the car. This wagon has the two way tailgate and this one works perfectly either way, and also, the rear gate window works flawlessly with the key switch outside or the switch on the dash! All the lights work as they should, all the doors, windows, door locks, wipers, glove box door, speedo, all gauges including the gas gauge, everything works as it should! The rear seat, and the rear storage door all fold way, open and close perfectly just as they did in 1970! The interior is all original, except possibly the carpet, the only flaw is in tear on the drivers side seat back, and the back of the front seat, where it looks like someone might have got in the car with a screwdriver in their rear pocket...ouch...! The wagon also has a factory roof rack which is impossible to find even if you wanted to add one. New American Torque Thrusts with BFG Tires round out a cool hot rod look. As I stated earlier, this wagon has no rust, no rot anywhere ever, and retains most of its original paint. The only issues are one really small ones, the old repairs I mentioned earlier. My wife and I drove to SW Florida, where I bought the wagon and drove 75/85 mph most of the way on the interstate (following my wife), we were trying to get through South Georgia before some really bad storms, which the temp dropped quicker than the weather folks thought so it wasn't so bad. I am sure I probably missed something.... please call me or email with any questions.
Please ask any and all questions before bidding. If you have more than one negative feedback please email me before you bid. Also, if you have less than three transactions please email before bidding. Sorry, I hate to say all this as bad as anyone hates to read it. Thanks for understanding!
There are no warranties of any kind on this vehicle. The wagon is sold as is where is. I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, the wagon is advertised in several places, locally and via social media. Thanks for looking.
