Description for Ford Deuce Roadster 1932

OVERVIEW:This is an all steel Brookville bodied ’32 Ford channeled roadster. The build was completed in 2004 by a well-seasoned rod builder in Victoria, BC, some of whose prior builds have graced the pages of Hot Rod magazine.Built for the current owner, it was driven the 700 miles from Victoria to Calgary, Alberta, where it resides today, and has attended numerous local shows bringing its odometer reading to approximately 3,600 miles since its build. It carries a BC assigned VIN and is currently Alberta registered. It has never been formally shown.

This is a high quality custom build that has excellent ride characteristics and has proven roadworthiness and strong running reliability. It can be presented in a variety of configurations given that it has removable hood side panels as well as removable fenders.

Built as a driver rather than a trailer queen, all aspects of this vehicle are still very new and fresh looking.Numerous custom aspects and details of the car are described and shown in this listing as you scroll thru.Near the bottom of this listing you will find a link to a photo album of over 150 pics.

This is an eye catcher where ever it goes, and with 300 horses under the hood you can be sure you’ll get to the show on time!

DRIVETRAIN:The stock, low-mileage, fuel injected Chevy 350 ci. V8 engine is believed to be mid-90’s Corvette and is nicely dressed and rated at 300 hp.It shows good oil pressure, and starts, sounds and runs very well with no smoke or unusual noises.

Engine compartment, engine, driveline, and all components are super clean and tidy, appearing as new, with much brightwork. There is extensive high quality chrome plating throughout, including the firewall, in addition to many hours of polishing.

The brass radiator and electric fan ensure cool running thru custom rad hoses and chromed reservoir.Custom made headers are powder coated, with chromed heat shields and stainless steel dual mufflers and exhaust exiting thru a single exhaust tip.

The GM 700-R4 automatic transmission provides 3 speeds plus overdrive, has been professionally overhauled, and shifts as it should.A custom built drive shaft transfers torque to the Corvette differential with extensive aluminum polishing. There are no signs of oil weeping or leaking anywhere.

CHASSIS:The body has been channeled 6” over American Stamping frame rails, and the frame is fully boxed and painted, with wiring for lights running inside.

Extensive chrome plating is seen throughout the chassis.Front suspension is a monoleaf spring with dropped I-beam axle and 4-bar set-up.Independent rear suspension is Corvette, also with 4-bar and coil-over shocks, all highly polished.

Steering box is USA built Vega, chrome plated.Stopping power is discs all around with power booster, extensive brightwork and a chrome plated master cylinder.Brake lines are polished stainless along with stainless steel hoses.

Main and spare custom aluminum ‘L’ shaped fuel tanks are joined with a cross-over, and there are dual electric pumps with an under dash switch for left or right as well as an anti-theft off position.Combined capacity is approximately 21 to 24 US gallons.

All tires are Michelin MXV4 Plus - XSE Energy radials in excellent condition.Fronts are 195/60R15.Rears are 235/60R16, which accommodate the mounting of the accessory rear fenders if desired. The owner indicated a preferred look to the car with even larger tires mounted at rear. All are mounted on American Racing mags in excellent condition.

BODY – PAINT - BRIGHTWORK:Custom mods include the following:
- 4” sectioning of the rad shell- hood top with twin inside releases to open left or right, or lift off- removable hood side panels- approx. 3” chop of the windshield- rear wheel tubs filled to accommodate the 4-bar set-up- rear roll pan- optional front fenders are widened Harley-Davidson steel, turn with the wheels, presently in primer- optional rear fenders are ’32 glass with steel re-enforcement, held on with 3 bolts- removable rear bumper bar- removable Plexiglas trunk floor for car show viewing and access to rear diff

All panels are very straight with no rust or collision damage.Paint color is Solar Yellow, early 2000 Lexus code 567.Paint work is excellent, single stage urethane, polished very smooth with great shine. It shows 3 very small hair line cracks at the front edge of the hood, and minor chips at lower corner edges of trunk lid and opening.

All brightwork is in excellent condition throughout. All chrome plating is high quality, as is the extensive polishing of stainless and aluminum.

INTERIOR & TOP:The full custom interior is upholstered in quality leather like material, including the seat cushions, door and kick panels, stop straps, windlace, shifter and handbrake boots, brake pedal shaft, and trunk panels. It is comfortable, in excellent condition, and seat belt equipped for two.

The body interior, except for the doors and trunk lid, has been lined with Dynamat for sound insulation. There is an interior heater under the dash, and the seat also has bun heaters which are accessible by removing the bottom cushion. Two access panels below the front cushion hide deep storage compartments. The seat back rest also flips forward for access to hidden storage. The top rubber bumper is missing from both door latch pillars.

The matching steering wheel cover is hand stitched, and is mounted on a tilt brushed aluminum column.Interior hardware such as door handles, pedals and shifter knob are brushed aluminum. The windshield can be swung out or folded down.

The cloth top is in excellent condition, it has an aluminum header, and the rear window is similar to ’34 Ford. The fit is very nice, it attaches to the body with snaps. It comes off in 6 pieces including the header and easily stores in the trunk.

ELECTRICAL:The 12 volt battery is hidden in the forward bulk head of the trunk behind removable upholstered access panels. There is also a red battery cut-off switch on the right trunk side panel. Two round black plates cover access to the fuel pumps. The Pioneer 12-CD stacker is located in the forward trunk area and the car is equipped with 4 speakers.

The aluminum instrument panel houses a full complement of VDO gauges.Due to the ‘L’ shape of the fuel tanks, the fuel sending unit will drop faster in the top portion of the tank, then slower in the bottom portion.

The main fuse panel is located below the passenger side of the dash behind an upholstered drop down panel. The under dash radio head is presently wired but not connected. It has an electric motor activated by an under dash toggle to make it drop down from its hidden position.

It has an electric wiper motor with detachable wire, and a removable wiper arm, which needs a new blade. The twin horns are disconnected.

The headlamps are 1937 Eiffel, which is a French Ford product, with dimmer switch on the floor.Front signal lamps located in the front frame spreader bar.Tail lamps mounted above the rear roll pan are Miata, with a rear brake light mounted flush in the body above the trunk lid. There are also 2 lights in the trunk compartment.

SUMMARY:If rod running in a classic yet very unique quality built Deuce roadster turns your crank, then this fast Ford is ready for you to show and go, and enjoy. It has gone far enough to be broken in and road proven, yet still presents quite fresh and new. This rod has excellent road manners, a smooth ride, and feels very stable at highway speeds.

The owner now has other projects and priorities to pursue and as such has decided to make his special rod available to its next caretaker.Along with the removable fenders, included with the car is extra top material and a grille bug screen.

The reserve is set far below invested cost, or what it would take to build a comparable ride today.
