Description of 1970 Ford Torino RARE 429 COBRA

I'm re-listing this amazing car since there was another low-down non-paying bidder a few weeks back. This is great news for those of you that were tracking and or bidding on the Cobra in my last auction. That individual cost me time and precious money. You do not win this auction, show-up to pick it up and then think you're going to renegotiate with me. That type of nonsense is not going to go well with this US Marine. NOT. WELL. AT ALL. With that said, I extend greetings from Sunny Florida. This year is my 20th year on eBay. I have a perfect score so please, buy with confidence.

You are looking at a VERY RARE and ORIGINAL; Factory N-code; 429-4V Thunder Jet; 1970 Ford Torino Cobra optioned with a C-6 Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, and a Factory Tachometer!! This car comes with the full Marti, which lets you know to bid with confidence as the provenance cannot be denied. Up until 2016, this car was a Barn/Garage Find that had been off the road and indoor stored for the better part of 30 years. I hesitate to use the word 'survivor' as it seems to be an overused term in the old car hobby this car has undergone many changes I am not sure it really fits, but this car has 'survived' through all of its early street racing days and then onto its day to day use throughout the '70s and early 80's!! This car has just completed a three + years restoration, and she was a very solid car to start with. Clear Florida title in my name. Florida does not put the mileage on the title for an antique car. Actual mileage is unknown.

LOW RESERVE for this CLASSIC MUSCLE CAR.

This car is a REAL Torino Cobra with its Cobra only 0A38N VIN in a GREAT color combination with a desirable option list as backed up by the full MARTI Report. The winning bidder will receive the MARTI report with the title. After being built in Atlanta, GA, this ORIGINAL N-code 429-4V 1970 Ford Torino Cobra spent its early life just north of Indianapolis hailing from the City of Anderson, Indiana originally.

This car was street raced for a time as evidenced by the High Beam Delete Cold Air Intake and the Trunk Mounted Battery Tray. My guess is that this car spent some time on Chicago's South Side engaging in some Late Night Street Fights!! I have left these items intact as a tribute to this car's Street Fighting past!! After the car was retired from its Street Racing days it was used as a Daily Driver of sorts and then it was put away and barn/garage kept. It was tucked safely away sparing it from the elements; which is what has kept this car as solid as it is. This car was clearly a driver for a number of years before being put away awaiting the restoration she so richly deserved. Well, the restoration got sidetracked as life happened and other matters became a priority. The Torino Cobra ended up being parked, moved from barn to garage to garage with each family relocation for nearly 3 decades still thinking of it as a future someday project, that was until the spring of 2016 when we started her "rebirth".

This car was a Stock Order at Fairway Ford Sales in Anderson, Indiana and ordered in the Indianapolis 46 DSO with the T-code Medium Red Hue Top Coat with a Black Broadcloth/Vinyl Bench Seat Interior. This Cobra was further spec'd out with the Standard Cobra mill; the N-code 429-4V 360HP Thunder Jet Engine, C6 Automatic Transmission, and a 9 inch 3.00 geared conventional rear end! This '70 Torino Cobra was well equipped and per the Deluxe Marti Report originally ordered as follows:

429-4V 360hp V-8 Engine

C6 Automatic Transmission

3.00 geared 9 inch Conventional Rear

Red Exterior Paint

Black Broadcloth/Vinyl Bench Seat Interior

14 Wide Oval Belted Raised White Letter Tires

Power Steering

Power Disc Brakes

Tachometer

AM Radio

Dual Rear Seat Speakers

Dual Color-Keyed Racing Mirrors

Body Side Moldings

The N-code 429-4V Thunder Jet Engine Starts on the 1st turn of the key and has an authoritative rumble to it.

It idles nicely and is very responsive. The engine is bone stock right down to its original Intake and Exhaust manifolds complete with heat shield, engine lift hooks, Air Cleaner Autolite Carburetor. She runs well and she has plenty of old school get up and go to move this rare Cobra down the block to be admired and gawked at.

Here are the links to a couple of videos of the Cobra Running PRIOR to her amazing restoration:

The C6 Transmission drops right into gear as it should and shifts through the gears with no issue. The bulletproof 9 inch brings up the rear and is smooth and quiet. There are many new parts that have been replaced/installed on the Cobra to get it back on the road and have it be a reliable and safe driver once again.

To include the following:

New Cobra Decals

New Battery

New Carpet

The Cobra has been freshly painted back to her ORIGINAL Medium Red Factory Paint Color. (Ford #2008-A) The front battery apron has had a piece sectioned in so we could mount the new tray. This is a REAL DEAL Cobra with a very solid chassis and excellent good bones. The fact that she was garaged kept all these years makes her all the more desirable to own. I am so proud to have restored her so that this Cobra could live to fight another day. The Black Vinyl Bench Seat Interior is excellent. The car has its original 2 spoke Steering wheel in it. The dash pad has a new cover on it and NEW carpet inside. The car was originally equipped with 14-inch steel wheels with Sports Wheel Covers; however, it now rolls on a NEW set of 15x7 Magnum 500 Wheels with brand NEW 265-50-15 Raised White Letter Radials. An incalculable amount of time and expense has gone into bringing this rare Muscle car back to life from its long hiatus from the street, but it has been well worth the effort. To see one of these Muscle car's put back on the road and have this modern day Dinosaur roam the streets once more is quite a sight and one that is not often seen today Overall this is a terrific original 1970 Torino Cobra with a GREAT running 429-4V 360HP Thunder Jet engine that is a solid driver!! This car certainly benefited from her cosmetic restoration. She is 49 years old. The professional restoration was done quite well; however, it is not a Rotisserie or a Barrett-Jackson. If it was I wouldn't be selling it on eBay and my reserve would be double my current asking price. The chrome is original and I personally like it like that. The chrome shows some patina. If you want to elevate her even more, then perhaps you'll have the chrome replaced and then ultimately make your own personal mark on the Cobra. I would say that the chrome is her greatest deficiency. Again, she has endured nearly 1/2 century since it rolled off the Atlanta Assembly line in August of 1969!! This car has a clean Florida. title and is currently insured in my name. If you have been looking for a Super Solid Big Block Torino Cobra then don't hesitate on this one; as is it may be some time before another suitable beauty such as this comes along again! Please look at the pictures and ask any questions BEFORE you bid!! I want you to be sure of what you are bidding on and for us both to be satisfied with the Torino Cobra's described condition and its sale. I expect a deposit within 24 hours of auctions end and balance of payment within 7 days of auction end. This 1970 Ford Torino Cobra is a 49-year-old car and as such must be auctioned 'as-is-where-is' and 'as-described' with no warranties either expressed or implied. True miles are unknown. I have described this 1970 Torino Cobra accurately as I can, so please read the auction text and look at the pictures carefully to make sure this is what you want before bidding. If you are not sure please do not bid. I take my auctions seriously and so should you. To that end, The Torino is listed for sale on quite a few sites and I unequivocally hold the right to cancel this auction at any time. The buyer is responsible for the entire shipping cost. I know many great shippers so if you need a lead for a great shipper, just let me know. I pray that she finds the right home. Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!

If you have less than a 25 positive transactions on eBay, you must contact me before bidding. Send me an email with your phone number, I'll give you a call to discuss the intent.

As mentioned in the beginning, a few weeks back I listed this classic and as expected, the bidding was fast and furious; however, due to another non-paying bidder, she's now being re-listed. This has cost me precious time and money. Bidding on a high-end item requires you to be sincere and ready to complete the transaction. Please, do your due diligence and only bid if you're adult enough to see this through and hopefully one day, eBay will take the appropriate punitive action against non-paying bidders and ban them from bidding for a minimum of one year. Buying and selling cars on eBay is an expensive endeavor. I have too much money invested in the Cobra to have a winning bidder to not come through, please for the love of God do not bid on this auction if you do not have the funds or have no intention on following through. A $1,500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction, this should help deter those that have no intention on being honest. As-Is. She will sell, it's just a matter of to whom she will soon belong to.
