Description of 1952 Ford Crown Victoria

1952 Ford Victoria

While the phrase "factory-correct" often conjures images of tired museum pieces that hang out with clueless volunteers, it can also stand for something truly great. Classic designs like this cool Victoria often feature an impressive mix of style and reliability. And, with that in mind, this attractive Ford is a living example of why, decades after their introduction, these cars still enjoy a dedicated fan base.

Featuring correct recently rebuilt Flathead power and a tough 3-speed automatic transmission, this 2-door coupe probably spent the better part of its 66 years as a stylish cruiser used for family fun. And today, decked in timeless aesthetics, it's poised for the potential for a restoration, or make use of it as is in all its patinaed glory. If you're ready to step up to the charm and class that made America great, take a close look at this chrome clad and fender skirted cruiser.

Exterior
An older respray of what may be white, or cream covers the car and is in fair condition. Patina and some chipping has occurred. Brite work is shiny however also shows some signs of pitting and corrosion. Overall good though the belt line trim is very nice, as well as the window surrounds. Bumpers are fair, and solid. Fender skirts are seen and along with the wraparound rear window which is encased in beautiful brite work. Wide white sidewalls with moon hubcaps, side spotlight, and dual exhaust complete the look.

Interior
A two-tone split back bench in white and brown surrounded in a sea of black carpet are seen upfront. The front seats are worn and show some signs of age. The rear has a completely different seat in bench form in black. A white metal dash showing some chipping, houses the original radio, and various control knobs. A rainbow shaped gauge cluster site in front of the original steering wheel that has the shifter for the automatic transmission on the tree with a large white shift knob. A clock sits atop the dash in the center on the dash and the headliner appears in good condition.

Drivetrain
A recently rebuilt (Consigner stated 300 miles) 239ci Flathead V8 and an automatic transmission are seen in the engine bay.

Undercarriage
Fairly clean with some surface rust, and a little gnarly where the floor pans meet the bodymounts and frame intersection. Some surface rust is also seen on the frame near the front engine mounts on either side. 4-wheel drum brakes are all around.

If you are looking for a car that is dripping with early 1950's cool, this car could be a project, or could be just fine to be enjoyed as is, with an older restoration showing the passage of time, and not in a terrible way. One has to love the lines on this car, and if one so desires, a fresh restoration should not be that far away from making this a real showpiece.
