Description of 1988 Ford Bronco XLT

  • ** 1988 Bronco XLT 5.8 liter V8 **

  • ** 85896 actual original miles **

  • ** Original paint & windshield in great shape **

  • ** Rare factory limited slip differentials in both front & rear, next best thing to modern lockers **

  • ** Tons of original receipts, documents, and original window sticker **

I bought this Bronco from the most well known Bronco dealer on E-Bay. Somehow he seems to find the best Broncos out there. It was a one-owner car, documented low miles, original paint, beautiful Bronco. It is my favorite color combination, has fuel injection, 5.8 liter V8, and has rare and highly desirable limited slip differntial in both front and rear differentials. They perform at a level just below full lockers (like Rubicon) and way better than the standard open differentials in most 4x4's. The interior is spectacular.

So even though the Bronco was in unreal original condition, we had a few leaks and 70K miles on the truck which is 30 years old. I drive and show the Bronco and wanted it to steer, stop, ride and be dependable and quiet as a new one of which I have owned several. We did a full body on frame mechanical restoration, replacing all parts with new for steering, braking, suspension, belts, hoses, pumps, seals. The original engine transmission, transer case, and differentials were in really good condition and were just inspected and resealed.

All work I have done was with the shop manager of a professional shop which won mechanic of the year in Colorado Springs. There is a detailed picture of the receipt for the work done (Approx $9K total).

In addition:
1) There is a custom installed hidden 12 K Smittybiltremote control winch behind the original bumper with synthetic rope cable.
2) Bronco model specific rock sliders, the last one commercially available
3) Truck has modest 2" lift with new springs and shocks.
4) All new exhaust system with a very nice V8 tone. Nothing obnoxious.
5) All interior panels removed for sound deadening insulation and replaced with new clips as needed. Probably quieter than new.
6) New complete sound system and original radio.
7) Secret anti-theft pressure switch.
8) A/C conversion to R134A.

This Bronco has obviously been babied its whole life. I am sure original owner never took it off-road and I have only done minor off-road driving and totally babied this Bronco myself. Feel free to call me at 719-332-4823 Dave
