Description of 1993 Ford E-Series Van E350 Super Ambulance

Great for a build out: originallyordered by the US Government and assigned to the Portsmouth, NH Naval
Shipyard from 1993, designated "Rescue 7". As a government vehicle, it was not registered with the stateuntil sold to the Hampton Falls. NH, then owned by the New Castle, NH Fire Dept. I acquired it from a dealerwho bought it at auction for immediate resale in 2017. Truck is presently used to collect book donations fora library, but is being replaced by a smaller unit that can access smaller driveways. This is a great running,comfortable-riding truck that I would not hesitate to drive a long distance. It was bought in New Hampshireand driven to New York, and has completed several long trips without issue in the two years I have owned it.Most ambulances are treated very well as reliability is paramount in emergency services. In small towns, they can live for decades with little mileage, and are only replaced due to changing needs.
-Great running 7.3 L IDI (Mechanical Indirect Fuel Injection) diesel, well known as a ultra-reliable workhorse
--runs smooth and quiet. These engines last for hundreds of thousands of miles.> 138" wheelbase, 5'8" head clearance inside box.> PS/PB with Rear ABS. E4OD 4-speed automatic transmission with Overdrive shifts perfectly at properrpms. Cruise control works, too.> Air Conditioning works and blows cold.>Manual windows, seats and door locks (military spec)> Dual batteries slide out for easy access at the bottom of the right front compartment.> Security cab has a center binnacle under a sliding plexiglass window instead of a pass thru. Binnaclehas working 4-gang 120V AC outlet and job file holders.> External 120 volt plug-in fixture powers the 4-gang electrical fixture underneath the center cab binnaclethat is live when the truck is plugged into your electrical service. The box also has 2 working 2-gang fixtures, one in the right front storage compartment above the battery tray, accessible from inside or outside thevehicle, and another by the control center at the head of the box.> Control center in box has switches for left, right and cot lamps, exhaust fan and a small cooling fan abovethe rear door-- all working.> Bright orange, US Govt. spec sidestripe glows brightly in the dark.> Reflective squares on diamond plate in rear.> Dual batteries in pull-out tray> 2 Vanner voltage inverters to power 120 V receptacles off the 12V vehicle batteries when truck is inmotion (functionality unknown- never used)> Engine Block heater (functionality unknown)> Side floodlights on both flanks; rear loading lamp. Full lighting in box. Some of the colored exteriorwarning lights have painted lenses to adhere to regulations regarding decommissioned ambulancesbut are still hooked up> Standard ambulance master cutoff switch on driver's seat frame> Vinyl upholstery and floor mats (hose it out!)> Map light and hand spotlight both work> No tachometer; otherwise, full instrumentation including analog voltmeter and ammeter in console.> STORAGE, STORAGE, STORAGE!: 6 internal compartments, 6 external compartments, 1 compartmentaccessible from both inside (via rollup door) and outside with full-height 18" OD door (holds battery tray).
Wide, 61" wide double rear door offset to the right allows deep compartments on the left side of the box.> 30' OD wide curbside door with low step-in height> All box doors lock manually with same key - no power door locks.> Spare Budd wheel and older tire in left rear compartment.> 12-V accessory outlet (no lighter fitted - not allowed in ambulances).> Includes aluminum rear bumper (damaged when backing up against a rock) which could be bent backinto shape and repaired.> Brand new custom fit "theatre lobby" carpet with "film reel" motif.> Lateral bench seat in box has been removed but will come with truck if you wish, though it takes up a lotof space. Can be re-installed> Ziebart rustproofing performed July 1993 prior to commissioning by US Navy in 1993. No rust on body.Box has light corrosion and flaking paint outside rear wheel arches around some latches.
Service and updates performed since 2017:-Removed front flasher/siren combos and changed cut-out hood for a stock from an auto recycler.-Oil pan replaced by previous owner/dealer in 2017. They are prone to rust on this engine, and are time-consuming to replace.-Replaced transmission speed sensor in August 2017-Charged A/C (blows cold). The rear box evaporator unit and switches are intact but the lines have beencapped.-Replaced radiator, serpentine belt, pulleys and water pump in May, 2019-Right rear inside dually threw tread on September 17, 2019. Installed 4 brand new LT 225/ R75-16" reartires that day. Front tires are 5 years old.-Replaced brake line running from master cylinder to RAB unit
