Description of 1989 Ford E-Series Van XLT

It took years to find this specific vehicle combination: a mechanical fuel injected non-computerized (emissions-exempt) 7.3 idi diesel travel van- that had not been used exclusively for work. Classic Designs of Elkhart Indiana appears to have performed the conversion from factory cargo van, when it was brand new. While it does have a block heater, it was a southern PA van which has seen very little NY winter driving. This travel van has seating for 7. The rear bench seat folds down to make a bed. The interior is in very good condition for a 30-year old van.

While it does run and drive- assume that this travel van may need major engine repair. At the very least- it will need the injection pump rebuilt and possibly a new flex-plate. There has not been any loss of coolant or oil pressure. No signs of oil mixing with antifreeze.
While returning from a 700-mile trip earlier this spring- the engine developed excessive white smoke and knocking when running. It has not been overheated. The oil pressure and coolant temperature have consistently remained in the normal range. It seems to knock when idling, but not when under throttle or when driving downhill. I had originally planned a manual transmission conversion which would have allowed for inspecting the flex-plate while replacing with a flywheel assembly. The C6 transmission has consistently slipped in second gear for the past 30K miles but has never failed.

All gauges were performing perfectly, except for the ammeter, until a few weeks ago. When the speedometer quit (might need a new cable?). I have not had an opportunity to perform the latest needed repairs and wish to sell it before winter arrives.
Recent brand-new parts in the last approximately 10K miles include:

- new LT235/85-16 tires, made in USA- new radiator
- new 100 amp alternator
- new Stanadyne-brand injectors
- new injector return lines
- new Motorcraft glow plugs, made in Germany- new starter (lifetime warranty)- new fan clutch- new belts and hoses- new vacuum pump (have considered replacing this while under warranty)- new front and rear gas tanks- new gas tank floats and pick up assemblies both front and rear. Will include a Ford NOS sending unit and gasket for the front tank, as the original sending unit appears to be require replacement.- recent custom exhaust, from the turbocharger to the tailpipe.- new rear wheel cylinders- new front brake rotors- new dual-piston front brake calipers
This auction is a relisting, with lower starting bid. Please note that it is no longer licensed for the road, which means you will to arrange transportation.

Before this ebay auction was first run in early November and the autofax report was generated, I believed (since 2013) that the van had 100K fewer miles due to the 5-digit odometer and overall vehicle condition. It also indicates that there was a lien reported in PA, which is either incorrect or could have been cleared before I purchased the van. I am holding a clear NY title, without any liens.

$500 deposit is due via Paypal, within 48 hours after auction close. Balance of the sale amount and vehicle pickup is due within 14 days, payable via Paypal or US cash. Payment must clear before the vehicle can be released.

The auction winner will have an option to purchase a strong-running 1990 E350 7.3 diesel parts van with factory overdrive transmission for an additional $700. The 1990 E350 diesel parts van will require towing. The 1990 was formerly a daily driver / work van, which I parked due to rust. The plan was to eventually install the diesel drivetrain in a resto-mod project. That project has also been put on hold, due to current time constraints. Happy bidding!
