Description of 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

Like theoriginal Bullitt car, this is a true "S" code mustang fastback. Notonly this car is theclosestit gets to the real Bullitt car, but it's a greatinvestmentbecause "S" code mustangs are very sought after.

Back in the 1960's, Ford Company didn't stamping vin numbers on blocks like they do today. Instead, they used dated codes thatreferences to the year of the car.To thesecars thereis no such a thing as"numbers matching", until the 70's when they started to stamping vin numbers. For the 1960's models the closest it comes to a numbers matching is "right era",meaningthe block is from the same period. It'sdifficultto find a dated matching block, finding matching heads is another challenge.One different date distorts the purpose of keepingoriginality.Especially when it comes to heads, you have a left side and right side. This car comes with both heads are dated8AE (1968)and theblock is dated:8D17, (1968) . Photo attached. A perfect match, from the block to the heads and the head to head. The block isdated only oneyear apart frominitial built date, which is thecorrectyear for Bullitt Mustang. This is the closets it get to "numbers matching" car. What makes this car evenmore special is the block is a passager version of a 390 FE and not a truck one. All big block passager vehicles such as the Galaxie, Fairlane, and Mustanghad apassager version of the390 FE block while all trucks were equipped with truck version of the390 FE. The market isflooded withtruck versions of 390 FE, which makes them inexpensive. On the other hand, there are very few passager version of the 390 FE left, simplybecause everyone wants to marry the correct engine withcorrect eracar. This brings the value of theblocks between$7,000 to $12,000 depending on condition.The difference in the twoversion is not only the value, but stroke.Many car builders/enthusiastknow this andcut corners by installing a truck version of the 390 FE into the car they're selling.Tricking customers into thinking that they are getting a true "s" code, but in reality they are not getting whatthey'reintended to.This car comes with the correct version of 390 FE and the correct stroke in standard bore cylinder as the day it when it came out of the factory.This is the reason why this car is a true "s" code and stands out from all the rest of the budget built fastbacks.
The body was a fullrotisserierestored, meaning the car is rust free. The floor panel were replaced with one piece panel like it came from thefactory and not in small sections like most restoration do. Bothquarterpanels were removed and replaced with the 1968style ones were installed. Notonly to match perfectly with the Bullitt car but to match the 390 FEblock. The paint was a PPG Highland Green with Metallic add and high solid clear coat was covered six times giving enough room to keep the car shining. Over650 labor hours spent on the body in order to make it look this good.
