This Unique Custom Truck won “Best of Show” at the In-N-Out / Hot Rod Magazine show that had over 3000 vehicles entered. It Won 1stplace at the Grand National Roadster Show in January for Radical Custom P/U.

Plus it just came out in the new 2020 calendar by Scott Williamson.

The “Art Rod” is a 1942 Ford full Custom Truck, built by Platinum Black Rod & Customs in Huntington Beach, CA. has been Chopped 6”, Channeled 6”, has working side windows, 1937 firewall, shortened bed with open floor and narrowed truck sun-visor. 1949 International grill. Frame is 2x4 front to back, 14” z’ed in rear. 4 corner airlift bags with 2 air tanks. Front end is an un-dropped I-beam on split wishbone and ¼ elliptical springs, Brakes are ’39 Ford drums with Buick Finned Aluminum Covers.Rear end is a bit more trick; Leaf springs on airlift bags, cantilevered shocks, panhard rod, Corvette sway bar, rotating fuel tank moves with motion of the airbags. Frankland Quick Change rear end with floating axels. Engine is a 1949 Ford Flatty 8BA 239 incher, Edelbrock Heads, Powergen polished Gen/Alt, Fenton intake with Gearworks adapters and Quad Ford 94 carbs. Mallery Uni-lite distributor and coil, clear sparkplug wires, hand made zoomies with Harley Baffles. Trans is a ’87 Ford T-5 / 5 speed.Wheels are ’36 Ford wide bolt pattern, Firestone Rubber.

Interior is all hand build, Aircraft style seats with Charcoal Pleated Leather, ’60 Chevy dash, Corvette trimmed pleated door panels in charcoal to match headliner and tunnel. Steering wheel 3 spoke design covered in charcoal leather. Combination of polished and brushed aluminum and stainless create the trim. Trick air vent covers follow the drilled lightening hole look throughout the truck.

There are 648 lightening holes drilled into this truck.

Tail lights started as Dodge rings then redesigned into the art objects that are displayed on the truck. Hand formed 3rdand 4thbrake lights are built into the bed. Details such as the license plate light are fantastic, I call it the little squid. Every nut and bolt in Stainless is ground smooth, domed and polished.

Paint: Body is Golden Bronze met., Frame in Charcoal, Suspension in Vegas Gold met,Engine, Wheels, Driveshaft and Rear Shocks in Jeep’s-Rescue Green met.Pinstripe done by Mike Donner and Von Hot Rod.

The attention to detail is second to none. You can stand and look at it for an hour and never see all of the details. It sits so low that we built a beautiful skid plate with Teflon runners.

This is a one of a kind, over the top show truck that will bring attention where ever it is.
