You are looking at one of the rarest mustangs ever made. A 1968.5 R Code Cobra Jet COUPE!!!!!!!!! This car is a factory Meadowlark Yellow R Code, 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed car.

According to the Marti Report, the car came optioned with the following:

· Black Paint Stripe

· GT Equipment Group

· Four Speed Wide Ratio Manual Transmission

· F70x14 Belted Traction Tire

· Console

· Power Disc Brakes

· Power Steering

· Am Radio

· Tachometer and Trip Odometer

No doubt about it, this is a very rare car and any collectors dream, especially a mustang collector. This car is honestly hard to sell and I should just keep it.

Only 221 R Code Cobra Jet coupes were ever made. That’s it’s. 221. Extremely low production numbers.

The car was built on April 22nd, 1968 and was sold by Courtesy Motor Inc, in Littleton Colorado. The car was sold on May 8th, 1968.

There were 1044 R Code Fastbacks built, 221 Coupes, and 34 convertibles. The R Codes production numbers are very low, and these cars within the last couple years are really starting to shoot up in value.

I have owned 5 or 6 1968.5 Fastback but NEVER a coupe. This is my first one and honestly it’s the first one as a project I’ve seen for sale. You see the fastbacks for sale, but very rarely the coupes. So don’t hesitate on buying this car because it will not last long.

The car has its factory Windshield/Dash VIN plate, factory Buck tag on radiator support, and factory VIN stamps on the fender aprons.

Rearend:

Not the original 9”. Comes with a 9” Rearend and a Non N Nodular center case which is correct for the 68.5 Cobra Jet cars. Very hard to find parts. These parts are with the buy it now price only.

Body and Paint:

The body of this car is in great condition overall especially structurally. It had been in California for many years so overall the car is very solid. The frame rails front and back are in excellent condition, torque boxes solid, rockers solid, fender aprons are nice and solid as well as the shock towers which are the correct wraparound shock towers.

The car is wearing its original paint except for the door and fender. The door was replaced with an original ford door and the fender is the original was just primered red oxide and yellow was painted on it. The rest of the car is original paint. The car has great gaps, solid door jambs, and trunk jambs. The driver quarter and taillight panel need body work. The car has the staggered shock plate. The trunk area needs the panels. Apparently the trunk seal failed and let water in. The panels around the gas tank will need replaced or repaired.

Glass:

The glass is in great shape. Windshield is cracked but I am including a good windshield with the car.

Wheels and Tires, Brakes, and Suspension:

The car has factory GT style wheels with centercaps. Brand New 205/70/14” tires.

Front power disc brakes are all there and rear drum brakes.

Factory suspension with large sway power.

Power steering is there

Interior:

Factory 8k Tach Gauges

4 Speed Pedals

Factory Black interior with Console. I have the radio for the car but the console radio face pad stuff is missing.

All seats are there but need redone.

Original carpet is in the car and a buildsheet could be under it but I have not disturbed it.
