According to all of the original documentation that we have on file for this classic beauty, the vehicle was initially assembled in February 1988 by Ford Motor Co, as an LX trim Mustang. It left the plant painted in Ford's factory black, just like all the other ponies that were lucky enough to be selected for a special voyage to ASC McLAREN headquarters. Upon arrival at ASC McLAREN, the makeover began towards what makes this a very special vehicle.
Modifications Engineered by McLAREN as follows:

The vehicle left asc McLAREN finished in the finest Sikkens paint, paint code "POR 027", known as "ascMcLAREN RED", which is the same color as PORSCHE "GUARDS RED"
After departure from McLAREN headquarters, this stallion arrived on the showroom floor of Hammonasset Ford in Madison, Connecticut. However, it didn't take long for this beauty to find a new home. According to the original "OWNERCARD" with warranty identification and original "VIN PLATE", on 5/11/1988 it was purchased by its only owner to date.
It's owner, a prominent local business owner, and World War II army veteran, spent the next decade and a half enjoying Connecticut's warm seasons with the top down, cruising his small town's beautiful countryside. During the winter season, the miles were kept off this classic as it remained garaged and preserved for future enjoyment. Of course, every single maintenance and service record was diligently logged by this detail oriented individual, with a concentration on keeping his pony true to its original nature, and absolutely never raced or abused. From 1988-1991, this McLAREN received oil changes and fluid checks on a regular basis, with the addition of a Catalytic Converter replacement on 8/16/1991 at 27,756 miles, the work was performed by Whaling City Ford under Ford Factory warranty. From 91-92 it again received oil changes and fluid checks, with the addition of an air filter replacement on 8/5/1992 at 35,190 miles. The vehicle was driven sparingly over the next few years, until the battery was replaced on 6/25/1997 with 38,883 miles. According to an invoice from Harbor Motors Inc where the vehicle was next serviced on 5/7-5/30 2003, the saddle and reins were taken off and stored away during the previous 5 years. The vehicle came to Harbor Motors for a complete check over, where the following was completed:

The miles out on the invoice from Harbor Motors Inc on 5/30/2003 were 38,884.
There are no other service records on file after this date from the original owner. We believe that the vehicle was enjoyed on the road for another 355 miles between 2003 and 2009. Records show the owner deceased in March of 2009. The vehicle was then passed along to the heir of his estate, his wife. The vehicle was then once again placed in storage at a climate controlled facility for collectible purposes, as was recommended by the family's attorneys. Which finally brings the story to us.
In October of 2019, we came across this rare automobile, (which, did I mention, is in incredible condition) through a donation auction!
You read that correct, after years of impeccable service and preservation in order to maintain it's collectible value, the family of the original owner decided to donate the proceeds of the sale towards their favorite charity. I thought it important to mention that, because it clearly demonstrates even further the first class kind of care and excellent ownership this vehicle received.
The vehicle was sold to us in October 2019, and shipped from Connecticut to New Jersey in an enclosed transport. It arrived on our location with 39,239 miles.

We have 4 original keys, all original Owners Manuals, including the 1.)Ford Mustang owner's guide, 2.) Mustang maintenance log, 3.)Ford electronic sound system operating guide, and 4.) asc McLaren convertible owner's guide supplement. We also have the original "OWNERCARD with VIN plate".
We have the original title, and because we are a used car dealer, this is still considered a 1-OWNER CAR. We also have a CLEAN CARFAX REPORT on file, this vehicle has never been in an accident!
There are a few minor imperfections with this vehicle that we are aware of, which you would expect with being 32 years young. We would like to bring these to your attention-if you have any questions on any of these items, please call us or message us before bidding! We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
1.) The vehicle has the original convertible top. There is a very small hole on the drivers side of the top.(Please see picture) If I was personally keeping the vehicle, I would replace the top. The vehicle has always been properly stored and garage/climate control kept, so this hasn't been an issue.
2.) There is a small chip with paint missing on the hood. It needs a drop of touch-up paint.(Please see picture)
3.) The power mirror switch isn't working.
4.) There is a small area on the front bumper where the paint has already been touched up. It looks good, but is there.(Please see picture)
5.) There is a small dimple on the middle of the trunk deck lid. This is extremely difficult to see, and is noticeable occasionally when the sun shines on it in a certain way.(There is a picture listed of this area, but again, very difficult to see. Just wanted to mention it, so there's no surprises)
6.)The passenger side headlight has condensation in it.(Only able to list 24 pictures, didn't want to waste one on this-you may be able to see it from the front pictures, if not, you know it's there.
That all folks. Not bad for 32 years huh? Everything else is beyond excellent condition.
