Description of 1988 Ford F-350

Hello fellow ebayers near and far! Today I’m listing an awesome 1988 Ford F-350 XLT Lariat Crew Cab Dually with the 7. 5L 460ci engine. an automatic transmission. and the much sought after vintage Alcoa aluminum wheels. Anyone who knows old Dually’s … especially Fords … knows how rare this particular black over red color combination is. For those of you who prefer it short and sweet. here are bullet points on this bad ass rig. For the rest of you who would like to hear everything I know about it. read the full story follows the 60+ huge. high resolution pics below. 1988 Ford F-350 XLT Lariat Crew Cab Dually 7. 5L 460c. i. engine Custom Built by Roll-A-Long Authentic Alcoa Wheels 5th wheel tow hitch in truck bed Power Windows (front doors only. rear are manual) Power Locks Set up installed for power rear window (currently inoperable) Wired for CB radio A/C (blows hard but only cool. needs freon charge) AM/FM with cassette player Cruise ControlRepairs completed in the past 10 days:Fully re-built transmission with new valve body Re-built steering column with new ignition actuator New neutral safety switch New vacuum modulator Rebuilt window motors New turn signal switch OK. so how bad ass is this dually?! As evidenced in the pics. this was the Ford Motorsport tow vehicle for their Saleen racing team back in the day. I know you guys back east can’t get enough of our rust free California trucks. and this one is no exception. The first owner (and lead driver). John Scott. kept meticulous books and records. as did the 2nd long time owner. Seriously. the maintenance file that came with this truck is an inch and a half thick. I recently purchased it from the third owner. who only had it for about a year. He sold it to me because it was time for the tranny to be re-built. and he wanted no part of that. I. on the other hand. was perfectly happy to take care of that because I happen to have of the best transmission guys in the universe. Now that Danny’s done his magic. I swear this thing could probably tow my house and everything in it! And that’s really what this beast is for. of course … towing whatever you’ve got. to wherever you’re going. The vast majority of guys who are looking for a truck like this want a safe. reliable. strong as hell work horse to tow their various toys. trailers. etc. If that describes you. start bidding because you’ve found your one-of-a-kind rig. I’ve driven it around town twice since it came back from the repair shops. and it drives really. really nice. As you saw in the list of repairs above. I had my master mechanic. Dylan. fix everything he could find that needed fixing. and it now drives as “tight” as any old dually has a right to. Really. it’s a great driver. especially with the entire steering column and it’s components re-built or replaced. According to the AutoCheck (and then verified by the maintenance file). about 90. 00 of the 109. 00 current miles on this truck were put on by the first owner. John Scott. during his stewardship from 1988 to sometime in 2003. He then sold it to the second owner. who kept it until March of last year. when he sold it to the gentleman I bought it from. That’s the long way of saying that this truck has essentially had two longtime owners who were committed to maintaining it properly. It clearly shows. especially in the engine bay and inside the cab. Speaking of the interior. as you can see it’s in remarkable condition. The pics tell the story here. for sure. I didn’t even have to detail it very much because it was already so clean. The dash and door panels are virtually as new. That also goes for the seats. carpet and headliner … all have very little wear. The paint is a different story. The next owner has a tough decision to make … enjoy it “as is” … aged patina and all … or take the truck to a whole new level with fresh paint. I’ve been going back and forth on whether to have it done myself. but in the end I just couldn’t pull the trigger. Unlike my mechanic and the tranny guy. I don’t have a reliable auto paint shop in the desert yet. Plus. I decided it would be best to let its next “real” owner choose what to do - keep it jet black. lower it and put a custom paint job on it. whatever you want to do. It’s a blank slate with tremendous potential and no need for interior work. Towards the end of the pics you’ll see that I put the center console. dash cover and cool old Ford floor mats back in. All of these items come with the truck. of course. but I’ve been enjoying it very much without them. It just has a cleaner. more open feeling without the clunky center console and huge custom dash cover. Don’t get me wrong … I love the dash cover because it’s obviously done its job. saving the entire dash from even a tiny hairline crack or any fading whatsoever … but I don’t like the way looks. Probably just me. Anyway the choice is yours. should you end up winning the truck. OK. then … that’s all I know about it. Should you want to talk or do a “walkaround” by phone. just shoot me a message through the ebay messaging system. Oh. and should you want to see my entire google+ photo album with 150+ pics showing the truck from every conceivable angle. including lots of close ups. you’ll have to send a message. too. Ebay has inexplicably stopped allowing URL’s that aren’t “live” in the description. and I can’t figure out how to get the link active. Anyway. I hope you guys love it. and I really hope the guy who loves it most wins it! About me: I'm a private party seller who buys several quality cars and/or trucks each year that I know will find good homes with fellow ebay auto enthusiasts. If they end up putting a few extra bucks in my pocket. then great … if not. no biggie. since I don’t do this for a living. I've been selling unique cars and trucks on ebay since 2001 and have never had a single deal go sideways. as evidenced by my perfect feedback score. I have a tremendous amount of fun hunting all over Southern California for original. unmolested. rust free 1970's. 80's and 90’s vehicles. I strongly prefer buying vehicles with only one or maybe two owners. Clearly I broke that rule with this Mercedes … but I suspect you can see why. I only buy what I really. REALLY like. and. since the "saving" aspect really is the most gratifying part for me. I'm happy to pass along these special cars or trucks to those elsewhere in the country - and the world - where clean original vehicles of this vintage have long since rusted into the ground. Being in Palm Springs is great because not only is this place an awesome hunting ground for low mileage. zero-rust garage queens. but I can travel to virtually any "cool find" in Los Angeles. Orange County or San Diego in 125 miles or less. If you'd like to speak with me personally or have me do a "walk around" of this Mercedes with you by phone. just shoot me a note through ebay messaging with your phone number. time zone and a good time to call. Thanks for checking out my auction and have a great day!
